American Made SOLID From Fit To Finish,

This review is from: Spyderco Manix 2 G-10 Combination Edge Knife, Black (Sports)
I love this knife! It's clipped to my jeans as I write this. The Manix 2 Combo edge offers the best of both worlds having both a straight edge and the spyderco serrated edge on one super blade! It has a stainless liner with spine jimping and wrapped in the G10 grip material. Made in Golden, CO of 154CM blade stainless steel, it can be carried by either hand and comes with a lanyard hole for those who would use it. It opens and closes easily and securely. Like I said, I'm wearing it as I write this. Some might say it's a bit large for an EDC knife, that just depends on your needs for the day. I like wearing knives like choosing a watch. It's personal preference and depends on what you may need to do during your day. The Manix 2 is my go to knife. That really says it all.Spyderco Manix 2 G-10 Combination Edge Knife, Black

This knife is supposed to be 3.75 to 4 stars. 2 Stars just to balance opinions' stars since this knife is not as great as paramilitary2 or sages. Plus in: Blade design, Craftmanship, Sturdiness, Material choice, People buy this item a lot... is a weird plus. Awesome Blade centering and Pretty big metal washers. Lock can also be accessed by lefties, Nice Sturdy Knife and lock, 2 Metal liners, Cool Jimping, Heavy but balanced (some prefer lite knives) Large laynard hole Handle ergonomics is moderate Minus: Hard to push to release lock with one hand, Dangerous since the blade will flip close swinging moderately fast when lock is released. Heavy and a bit bulky especially for pocket use. Neutral in: Face down carry only L/R

Another SpyderCo Legend!!,

The "Manix II" is a tactical folder made here in the USA by an amazing Japanese company named "SpyderCo." SpyderCo offers what are, in my opinion, the best lock-blades available on the market today.Three major factors made me decide to buy the Manix II: 1.) While most SpyderCo knives are crafted professionally in Japan (I own a few, like the "Civilian" for an example,) the Manix II is specifically "American made." SpyderCo hired Americans, gave them training, parts, and instructions, and ended up having a little Colorado factory creating one of the best "Heavy Workload" knives ever created. 2.) The locking-mechanism on this knife fascinates me. The handle is extremely strong, and along the spine there is a section with two VERY tight, and VERY powerful springs which are placing constant pressure on a steel ball-bearing. When the knife opens all the way, the ball bearing is pushed between the blade and the grip, making lock-failure nearly impossible. You'd have to pulverize the steel ball-bearing into powder for the lock to fail, and that's just not going to happen. If you're hesitant about the lock, DON'T BE!! It's better than standard locking mechanisms for great knives like Gerber, Buck knives, Benchmade Axis locks, Ka-Bar, CRKT, Boker, etc. You simply use both hands and pull a lock-release backward to allow the blade to close. 3.) The quality of SpyderCo is legendary, and I have experience with it. I now own a Manix II, a SpyderCo Pacific, and a SpyderCo Civilian. I own dozens of other tactical-folders, and none are as sharp, efficient, or "feel as sturdy" as my SpyderCo's, with the exception of my full-tang USMC Ka-Bar Combat Knife. These knives may "have moving parts," but once they're locked they feel like a bar of titanium....even cheaper models like the "SpyderCo Pacific!" The blades arrive extremely sharp, and ready to last a lifetime. Let it be known that I have major respect for Buck Knives, Kershaws, Gerbers, etc, but in my experience SpyderCo is always the "best bet." Go ahead and treat yourself, buy the Manix II model today. You'll support American workers who are making insanely sturdy products. This is something "made in the USA" that EVERYONE can be proud of.

It's this simple.
I sent back a Sog Tomcat and ordered this Spyderco Manix. I'm never going to be without one, the fit and finish is extraordinary. The backstrap looks like it's been jeweled, and the blade is about 1/8" thick and viciously sharp. What a great find, I am going to order the plain edge blade also, but this one will be my main slice.

Excellent and durable high quality knife,
This review is from: Spyderco Manix 2 G-10 Combination Edge Knife, Black (Sports)
I've been carrying one of these on duty since December of 2010, and it has given me trouble free service. It arrived shaving sharp, and has not needed any touch up since I have acquired it. It is not too heavy, as the liners are milled out, and the knife is slim, so it carries in the pocket very well. I like the deep index finger groove in the handle, as it will keep the knife from slipping back into your hand if you use it aggressively. It is a somewhat large knife, but has provision for choking up on it in order to use it for more delicate tasks. The locking mechanism is very sturdy and I have seen no loosening of it or any play in it after much use. It has a hole for a lanyard, which I have added. It is also configurable for left or right handed carry. The knife opens quite readily, even while wearing gloves. Lastly, I am outdoors a lot, and this knife sits in my pocket, collecting sweat and grime during the day. Even after a few weeks of not wiping it down with a lubricant, it has remained corrosion free. (Something I cannot say for a SOG in VG-10 I used to carry.)
I was recommending this knife back when it was over $90. Now Amazon has it for $75, or even less if you want the plain edge. (As of this review, anyway.) For that pricing, to get a high quality USA made knife is almost unheard of. Buy one, you won't be disappointed. Heck, buy two and give one away to a good friend!
