The Spyderco P'kal Model C103GP is my EDC (Every Day Carry) knife. It is designed for a fast action response in life threatening situations. It uses an Emerson Wave opening system. This is located on the spine of the blade. It enables the knife to deploy the blade at presentation. Simply draw the knife from the pocket to open it. It is intended for a point down/edge in or "reverse edge" grip. For the best example of how to carry, deploy, and use this tool I highly suggest visiting the ShivWorks website. I don't go any where without this little life saver in my pocket. It's belt clip is reversible for right or left hand sided carrying options. The ball bearing lock system is superb and perfect for this specific knife. I can't say enough about this tool. Spyderco's Sal Glasser did a remarkable job in executing a specified tool for ShivWorks. There is also a training version available that I highly recommend. The only thing I would change is the small lever that unlocks the blade. I would have rather have seen it made of metal rather than plastic, but this in no way effects the operation and performance of this knife.
Thank you for your time and efforts.

The Spyderco P'kal Model C103GP is an excellent defensive folding knife.

I really like the waved feature. It's a simple and effective opening device. There's a drawstroke tutorial on the ShivWorks site that explains the drawstroke.
The knife is designed to work best with a point down, edge in grip. The point of the blade alligns with the centerline of the hand. The handle is also neutral enough to hold the knife in any of the other traditional grips.
The scales are nicely textured to provide a good gripping surface. There's also notches in the liners that sit just below the edge of the grip scales that provide additional gripping surface. I just wish the scales were green.
The locking mechanism locks & unlocks the knife very well.
The wire clip is nice & reversable.

Kudo's to Sal Glasser from Spyderco for this collaboration. They did a great job and the synergy with SouthNarc shines through in this knife. I recommend getting the training (drone) knife. Training knives are an important part of safe training. You are training to use your tools, aren't you????????

I just started collecting knives, and I thought that I would begin by collecting Martial Blade Craft (MBC) knives. The Spyderco P'Kal was top of the list for me as I had read many good things about the knife, and the history of Pikal and Philippino martial arts intrigued me further.

After doing much research, there was no doubt that I wanted this knife. As I found out, there was no better company in the knife business than Spyderco, and the P'Kal was a great folding representation of the MBC knife it was modeled after.

Then, came price. What blew me away was the diversity of prices that I found on this knife. Spydero's website offered it for sale at full MSRP. That was $259.95 for those of you who don't know. Wow! However, they did warn customers that they sold their products at full MSRP so they wouldn't step on the toes of their retailers, and they let it be known that one could find it cheaper elsewhere. So, I looked and looked. I found the knife at many other places, and the cheapest I could get it for was $169.95. I then went to my local knife shop and had him price it for me, and he wanted $225.00.

Fortunately, I thought of Amazon before I made the decision to buy, and boy was I surprised to see the price that I paid for the knife. It was a full 48% below MSRP and was much lower than anyone else. I didn't think Amazon sold Spyderco products, but I'm glad that they do because no one can beat these prices. I almost wrote Spyderco to ask them why it was that Amazon could under-sell everyone else by so much, but I thought better of it for fear that they may ask Amazon to raise the price. I can't have that because there are other knives to buy, and I'm hoping I can find them right here in the future! Keep up the good work Amazon!

I've read so many positive reviews on this knife in differnt forums and finally puchased one thru amazon. I gotta admit, I wasn't such a fan of spyderco's knife designs until I got the P'kal. Spyderco derives the name from "Pakal," a tagalog word meaning "reverse grip" and is meant to be used "edge in," and works great in the usual sabre grip as well. I have moderately big hands and it feels natural to hold.

Fantastic knife and crazy sharp out of the box. Perfect for practicioners of Filipino martial arts or any other systems of knife combat. It makes a great every day carry (EDC) knife because of its light weight and thin profile. Deploys extremely fast from your jeans front pocket... terrible deployment with flimsy fabrics like polyester. So just make sure your pants pockets are made of strong enough material.

Great knife! I highly recommend it.

**Note: There's a training version of the p'kal with a dull blade... DON'T BOTHER wasting money buying it. It's way overpriced for a training blade - costs almost as much if not more than the real knife, which is totally bogus.**
