Great knife,
This review is from: Spyderco Pacific Salt Yellow - Rust Free! Model # C91PYL (Misc.)
After doing much research into corrosion resistant knives, I landed on this one. It is the perfect compromise of size, weight, and functionality. The cutting edge is about 3.5 inches, which is a perfect length for an everyday carry knife. The overall blade is slightly longer (almost 4 inches) but is barely noticeable. The handle may feel cheap, but it is actually incredibly durable.
I purchased this knife to have one for canoing that I wouldn't have to clean and oil after an excursion. It fits the bill perfectly. If you have any doubt, do some research on the H1 steel. It is strong and work hardens, so you'll have to sharpen it frequently at first, but less as time goes on. I have read accounts of it living in saltwater for a few weeks only to be pulled out and be completely free of any rust. For those of you who are survival nuts (as I), the steel is also hard enough to strike a magnesium firestarter with no problem, even using just the back of the blade. The hole through the pocket clip is a bit small, but it can accommodate a small lanyard if need be. The knife feels good in hand and uses the same scales as an Endura. Now if Spyderco could only make a floating attachment for those of us who boat and not dive! I will be gifting several Salt I's in the coming months, as they are simply slightly smaller (basically a Delica)

This is a great discovery!! The H1 steel process is the best thing since sliced bread. The no rust solution makes this my go to carry knife while fishing. I stick it in my surf short's waist band and can get it fully submerged in the ocean and not worry about rust. About the only down side is when the knife is new. H1 is not heat treated/tempered as are conventional steel knives and require the edge to be worked hardened. What this means is you have to use the knife a bit when its new and it WILL season the edge. Cutting bait with it, had it work tempered in no time. After a bit it will sharpen up easily and shave hair with the best of 'em, without the worry of corrosion. the rest of the knife is not as scratch resistant as normal steel knives but this was meant to be a work knife not a safe queen lol.
