5.0 out of 5 stars Great knife
After doing much research into corrosion resistant knives, I landed on this one. It is the perfect compromise of size, weight, and functionality. The cutting edge is about 3.5 inches, which is a perfect length for an everyday carry knife. The overall blade is slightly longer (almost 4 inches) but is barely noticeable. 1.0 out of 5 stars H-1 is comical.
Stay away from the H1 metal, sharpening it is near impossible, it loses an edge so fast; other than it's light '3oz' weight, the knife doesn't have many positive perks. Yes it won't rust, but it will never be sharp enough to utilize as a tool. I wish I could receive my money back; I most likely will never purchase a Spyderco knife again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great knife, July 29, 2011
This review is from: Spyderco Pacific Salt Yellow - Rust Free! Model # C91PYL (Misc.)
The handle may feel cheap, but it is actually incredibly durable.
I purchased this knife to have one for canoing that I wouldn't have to clean and oil after an excursion. It fits the bill perfectly. If you have any doubt, do some research on the H1 steel. It is strong and work hardens, so you'll have to sharpen it frequently at first, but less as time goes on. I have read accounts of it living in saltwater for a few weeks only to be pulled out and be completely free of any rust.
For those of you who are survival nuts (as I), the steel is also hard enough to strike a magnesium firestarter with no problem, even using just the back of the blade.
The hole through the pocket clip is a bit small, but it can accommodate a small lanyard if need be.
The knife feels good in hand and uses the same scales as an Endura.
Now if Spyderco could only make a floating attachment for those of us who boat and not dive!
I will be gifting several Salt I's in the coming months, as they are simply slightly smaller (basically a Delica)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for salt water sports, August 2, 2010
This review is from: Spyderco Pacific Salt Yellow - Rust Free! Model # C91PYL (Misc.)
This is a great discovery!! The H1 steel process is the best thing since sliced bread. The no rust solution makes this my go to carry knife while fishing. I stick it in my surf short's waist band and can get it fully submerged in the ocean and not worry about rust. About the only down side is when the knife is new. H1 is not heat treated/tempered as are conventional steel knives and require the edge to be worked hardened. What this means is you have to use the knife a bit when its new and it WILL season the edge. Cutting bait with it, had it work tempered in no time. After a bit it will sharpen up easily and shave hair with the best of 'em, without the worry of corrosion. the rest of the knife is not as scratch resistant as normal steel knives but this was meant to be a work knife not a safe queen lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great light weight knife, March 9, 2010
This review is from: Spyderco Pacific Salt Yellow - Rust Free! Model # C91PYL (Misc.)
The Pacific Salt is a large knife ,however, it is light weight due to the handle having no steel liners. The lock-up is tight with no blade play. Overall, the knife feels great in the hands, opens easily, and is finished really well. I would recommend this knife for anyone wanting a large folding knife for the outdoors or any water sports.
P.S. I do not have any experience with the steel, but so far it has held up nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome knife, October 2, 2010

Great knife, Buy it. It physically cannot rust.
I literally keep it on me at all times. It has a long enough blade to do just about anything you need it to, but it's not 'bulky'.
It comes razor sharp out of the box and is very easy to sharpen.

5.0 out of 5 stars took EDC to a hole new level, October 4, 2010

This knife is amassing! It holds an edge really well and it comes razor sharp out of the box. There is no side to side play nor is there any up and down play. the billed tip is preface for safely cutting rope, webbing or any thing that could entangle you wail swimming, fishing, or scuba-diving. but this knife is not just for the water. its preface for hiking, camping, or any out door activity. I cary this knife every where i go and it takes on any task i through at it. What can be sad bad about a knife so well designed. Good job Spyderco!

extra details:
-Deployment hole is 14" grate for gloved hands!
-Deployment is supper fast just use that deployment hole and give it a little flick.
-Deployment when wet is grate!
-Deployment when underwater is grate!
-Gripping is preface for underwater and out of water use.
-Gimping is particle and functional.
-Thumb ramp gives grate nonslip traction that your thumb can really dig into
-Thumb ramp combination with the grate gimping makes for good use in any situation.
-Good self defiance knife on land, and in water: fresh or salt water.
(be it entanglement, shakes, bad wether, or some one trying to do you harm you cant go wrong with the Spyderco Pacific Salt.)

THIS THING WILL NOT RUST! I've put it through all kinds of tests: salt water swim tests, fresh water swim tests, tracheal rain and threes not a sine of rust, the edge is still razor sharp and the deployment is still like new!
