Product Description

The Schlepp Tuff is one knife that truly lives up to its name. Its stout CP M 3V blade is mated to a handle featuring a G-10 scale and stainless liner on one side and a solid titanium scale on the other. An oversized pivot and a Chris Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) with a hardened steel insert ensure superior strength and increased wear resistance, while its dimpled texture and four-position clip provide exceptional grip and ease of carry.

This is another home run from Spyderco! The Reeve frame lock is solid and blade lock up is excellent. I think this is one of my favorite Spydercos yet! The 3V blade steel is honed to a superb sharpness for a great utility knife. This is the first knife that I have had with this blade steel, so far my impressions are excellent. I have used this knife for utility purposes with work and has worked great on cardboard, tape, insulation for electrical conductors and even peeling an apple. I was a little concerned with how the blade and handle were in the hand, but the blade is a natural pointer and is great. I would happily purchase this again. I have heard that 3V steel requires a little more maintenance in terms of rust prevention. After I used it in a high moisture environment, I wiped with blade down with a cloth and then did a quick rub down with olive oil (great oil to use if you use the knife around food) and tastes better than non cooking oils.

I have owned more Spyderco models than I haven't, as well as many other brands. This is my all time favorite edc knife. It is the perfect combination of heavy duty and portable and practical. It carries like a smaller knife and is not awkward in performing smaller light duty tasks. It is built like a tank and excels at tasks normally reserved for a fixed blade. Unique but extremely practical blade shape, extremely ergonomic grip. Fit and finsh and overall quality is superb. This blade steel is exceptional in every way. I love most all spyderco products but this one has become my all time favorite. I can flip the blade open and close it with one hand. I think complaints I have heard regarding ease of opening and closing are unwarranted. The only drawback I can see to this knife is the price point. While not in the ultra expensive range it is higher priced than the average person would want to spend. It is well worth the money to a die hard knife person who really uses a pocket knife everyday.

While I will still leave my rating 5 star, After using this knife more extensively, I will retract my declaration of this being my favorite edc. That title goes jointly to the Paramilitary 2 and Yojimbo 2. I realized that the actual cutting edge on this knife, due to the grossly oversized finger choil, is very small in contrast to the size of the knife. I found myself getting into the finger choil when cutting cardboard. Also, while the blunt tip on the knife makes it rugged and less prone to breakage, it also makes simple tasks like cutting plastic way more difficult than they have to be. It is a beautiful well made knife and it is very heavy duty and rugged, but isn't as practical for everyday use as I first thought.

Lives up to the name! Great for hard use outdoor work. A little on the heavy side for EDC. Feels like a fixed blade in the hand.

When i placed the order for the Spyderco Schempp Tuff and several other items,i chose standard shipping not realizing it may arrive after Christmas. I contacted Amazon customer service to pay for shipping upgrade via email and within an hour a very helpful representative returned my email after upgrading shipping to one day delivery and charged me nothing! Free delivery! Amazon has outstanding customer service but i didnt expect that. Thank you very much !

The Spyderco Tuff arrived on time as usual and came with literature describing its development history and intended use. This is a large folder with a 3.75" long by 1.25" wide blade made from CPM 3V steel. Its .157" thick but because it doesnt have a swedge cut out of the spine,it appears much thicker.and the deep fuller or blood groove adds to the effect. It has a fairly high flat grind, beautiful satin finish and came very sharp.easily capable of shaving arm hair and quietly breezing thru paper despite its thickness.

The titanium frame is heavily built at about .125" thick and is riddled with spherical divots machined into the side which is mirrored by the quite grippy G-10 on other side. Not the greatest look IMO but it does cut weight a bit. There is a massive blade pivot and two large build screws. The pivot is quite smooth and the massive blade flies open once the fairly heavy blade detent is overcome. There is no blade play in any direction either while locked or while opening. The lock bar has a replaceable, hardened steel insert to engage the blade tang and locks up securely to a depth of about 30% of blade thickness and 45% lock bar thickness. It is very strong but because the lock bar is extremely short, about 25% shorter than most,it is extremely stiff and very hard to unlock.

Great knife, extremely tough. Blade material is not stainless. Edge retention is awesome and construction is impecable. Size and weight a little bit big.

This is one heavy duty folder. I don't think there is anything that can touch it for the money! Fit and finish is excellent and the 3v steel is a winner. Unique handle and choil allow a grip to really get leverage when needed for detail work. This is a beast of a knife and it is up there with the toughest folders costing much more.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my step dad. We both loved it and now I really want one for my collection. It has a very nice grip and feel to the handle. The 3v steel should last a lifetime.
