It's so small that it looks like a toy, but don't let the size fool you. It is definitely a real knife. Spyderco makes quality blades and the Bug is just as functional as any of their other knives.

This knife is so tiny that you can keep it on your keychain and always have it when you need it. It is barely 1.5" when closed, which is shorter than the average key. I almost always carry a regular sized pocket knife with me but I still keep the Bug on my keychain for those times where I either forget or am unable to carry a normal pocketknife. It's ideal for everyday lightweight cutting jobs and tough enough to go through cardboard. However I wouldn't recommend it on hard cutting jobs because it's difficult to get a really firm grip on a 1.5" handle.

It has a slipjoint design, meaning the blade doesn't lock in place when opened but is held in place by the tension between the blade and the handle. The tension is just right to keep it open when you want it open and closed when you want it closed. The blade comes razor sharp out of the box and there is a hole in the handle for attaching it to a keychain.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this product. I wanted something that could fit on my key chain without being too obtrusive or bulky in my pocket and this knife was the ticket! For those of you who wants a decently sized knife I wouldn't get this because it is small. My bottle opener is a good quarter-half inch longer than this knife (closed of course). It is also really sharp out of the box and it locks up tight when deployed. Good for little jobs and what I wanted it to do. Spyderco is definitely a good brand!

Small: You can put it almost anywhere.
Sharp: Be careful it will cut you like butter.
Light: You will not even feel it.
Just buy it!

It's hard to imagine a knife this small actually being useful, but it truly is. Weighing in at less than 1/2 ounce, you'll never know it's in your pocket. But when you go to use it, you can immediately tell it's very well-made, is literally razor sharp, and has just enough blade to get small jobs done. It's such a nice little knife that anyone who sees it will want one.

Spyderco really found a way to provide a small but useful tool in an incredibly tiny package. And its action is so smooth that you will find yourself opening and closing it just for fun.

I definitely recommend it. My only advice is to buy several, because they make ideal gifts for friends and family. And at less than $10 apiece, you can afford to give them to lots of people who will likely keep them (and use them) for many years to come.

i bought this thinking it was a bigger knife more like a swiss army knife and got it and saw it was an inch and a half long (i didnt read the specs). at first i was dissapointed because i spent $20 on a knife an inch and half long.i then put it on my keychain and still havent taken it off 3 months later.it still works perfectly. anyone looking for a small and sharp keychain pocket knife should get this

For the price, this is a fantastic little blade! So small it can fit on your key chain, so light you will never know it's there. There is one serious (potential) drawback though:

1) If you toss it in a backpack you may lose it/forget it is there
2) If you carry that backpack often, you may even take it on a trip with you
3) If you happen to fly, the friendly TSA people will find/confiscate it for you
4) If they do that, you're likely going to get questioned and groped for the trouble

Trust me: nobody wants to go to third base with the TSA. So please: don't forget your knife - it could cost you your dignity.

You will be surprised by how small this knife is. I expected it to be small but this thing is tiny. Spyderco makes amazing stuff, a really well made knife I can tell will last for a long time. Extremely sharp out of the box. Perfect for a keychain, about as thick as 2-2.5 keys. At this price, very nice.

I brought this knife because I lost an old keychain knife that I brought from a 7-11. Keychain knifes come in handy when you're cutting boxes open and are just nice to have overall. Although I probably would have now opted for spyderco's grasshopper model (the size I prefer) I am not disappointing with this purchase... it's small but VERY sharp. It's built better than the cheap 7-11 one I had previously.

Another plus with this knife is that its not serrated. My last knife had serrations but I found that feature to be useless. For what I would use this knife I doubt it will get dull on me anytime soon ( last one got dull just from slicing a few strips of tape in 2 weeks!)

If you want a nice sized keychain knife get the spyderco grasshopper. It's my fault for not reading the specs and assuming, but I don't regret this purchase. BTW you have to supply your "chain" or "string" to attach to your keys, does not come with one.
