5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Knife, June 2, 2009
This review is from: Spyderco Tasman Salt Serrated Edge Yellow H-1 Steel Knife (Sports)
I have owned spyderco knives for many years now. My daily carry knife when i was younger was a ladybug. Now currently an endura ss. They are great knives for everyday use. This is the first spyderco i have bought for a specific use. This knife is really only good for cutting rope in the salt water. However for that use it is perfect. It slices through rope, webbing, nets and line effortlessly. It is also rust proof.
I will definately use it every time i dive from now on.
for my day to day carry i still recommend the endura or ladybug models.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but not perfect, February 2, 2008
I bought this knife a few months ago and tried not to abuse it too much since it's such a beautiful piece, but alas it's been less then 6 months and I've bent the tip already.

Pros:
-I don't know how I lived without the thumbhole for opening, it's also, opening mechanism is very smooth
-Handle has a strong feel to it, I have no doubt you could abuse it severly without problems.
-I can't speak to the blade actually being rust proof per se, but I have never had a problem cleaning ANYTHING off of the blade. Certainly seems rust proof.
-Feels great in your hand
-Shape of the blade looks/functions awesome
-Made in Japan

Cons:
-The spyderco logo on the handle seems to collect just about any dirt or grime in comes into contact with, get the scrub brush out.
-This is my first hawkbill (or harpy if you will) style blade I've ever had and the tip does NOT take much abuse at all. Picture the plastic ring on the tops of some plastic beverage bottles, I had something similar on the top of a gun oil bottle and while attempting to pry/cut the ring off I bent the tip permanently. Yes, I'm talking about a plastic ring, a strong one yes, but plastic.
-It does have very very slight lateral blade wiggle if you really push on it.
-Made in Japan

Overall a great knife for the price, just be careful with the tip - it won't take much abuse.
