Product Description

The mid-sized Tenacious has a black G-10 laminate handle, ergonomically milled with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Skeletonized steel liners tucked inside the handle, increase the handle's rigidity and strength without non-functional weight or thickness.  The 8Cr13MoV stainless blade is coated in a non-reflective black coating and ground-flat from spine to cutting-edge for non-stop cutting. The blade's shape, coupled with an oversized Spyderco Round Hole, position the hand for instant and confident blade opening. Sharp from tip to hilt, the Tenacious offers the most cutting edge possible for the blade's length. A black 4-way pocket clip lets the folder be set in a variety of carry and draw positions: Tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand.

Came shaving sharp out of the box, blade takes an edge very nicely and holds it well.

So here's the thing. I own a lot of high end knives. From Sogs, Kershaws, Emersons, Zero Tolerance, Benchmades you name it. I've known about the Tenacious for a while and have heard good things about it, but considering the low price, I didn't consider it to be a quality knife. But I needed a knife for work that I can use and not be afraid to mess up, so for less than $40 I decided to pick one up. Holy cow I feel so stupid! Why did I pass up this knife? Why didn't I buy this knife long ago? It is absolutely a beast of a knife! Out of the box it is SCARY sharp. And I mean sharp. It cut me twice. And in all honesty (this is sad), out of all my knives, it is the sharpest knife I have out of the box. Yup. A less than $40 knife. The sharpest out of all.

It has no blade play up down left right. Blade is centered when closed, fast deployment, solid lockup, and the ergonomics are perfect for my hand. Not too big. Not too small. Not too heavy, not too light. It can handle big jobs, it can handle little jobs. A VERY BALANCED KNIFE. I would of saved so much money had I bought this before all my other knives. GREAT GREAT GREAT EDC.

If you like the Spyderco Para Military 2 knife, but do not like the price, then this knife is for you at a third of the cost. This knife and the Centofante III are my absolute favorite Spyderco blades. This is one of the best tactical blades that I have ever seen as a former US Marine, and considering the price and Spyderco quality, then this probably is the absolute best. Instead of buying the Para Military 2 knife, you can buy three of these. Also, you can find this knife for a few dollars cheaper on ebay and with faster processing and shipping time.

Had it for a couple months now, and its just awesome. for the past while ive been avoiding spydercos because of the wierd looking blade shapes, but when you get them in your hands, you can tell right away why they were designed that way. Great value knife.
Has G10, decent steel, full skeletonized stainless liners, 4 way reversible pocket clip, phosphor bronze bushings that make it super fast. No side to side or up and down blade play whatsoever. And for only around 40-50 bucks? Awesome deal.

If your on the fence about whether to get the all black or the regular version, go for the black. its very worth it for both the added looks and the coated blade that otherwise rusts pretty easily. Ive also heard that the hardware on the all black version is actually slightly upgraded as well.

The ONE thing wrong with this knife is the fact that for whatever reason, the ball detent on the liner lock is somehow shaped wrong and after a while of use (couple of days of opening and closing), the knife squeaks horribly when being opened or closed. It took me forever to figure out why however, and i tried everything from loosening the pivot to taking it apart and liberally applying lube to the bushings and pivot. Nothing worked until i realized that the detent was the problem. To fix this, i used White Lithium Grease (grease, not oil) and put it on the ball detent. it lasts a LONG time between reapplications and fixes the problem completely, making it even faster and smoother than before.
For the pivot, i just use regular lube like silicon oil because putting grease in the pivot just invites dirt and dust to collect and gum it up.
For the money, you cannot go wrong with this knife. it is definitely an incredible choice if youre looking for something that wont break the bank but will provide you with everything youll ever need in a folding knife.

I have had this knife for several months now and its the one always in my pocket. I own over 150 knives and I know a thing or two about them.

PROS:
Super sharp.I mean spooky sharp! Takes a scalpel edge.
Opens easy.
G10 handles are grippy and comfortable.

CONS:
None for me. This is an awesome knife! If you want a great EDC tactical folder buy this one. You wont be disappointed.

I am a man who just cannot carry around any knife that costs more than $50. As someone who prizes functionality above all else, I like a product that can handle a lot of practical use. I don't like buying show pieces, as I find them to be a total waste of money.

With that being said, this knife is a great introduction to the Spyderco line. It isn't so expensive that you'll feel guilty about carrying it around, and it really familiarizes one with the Spyderco design. And on that note, see that ugly hole? I HATED the way the Spyderco knives look, solely because of that gaudy hole. However, I went against my gut and followed the recommendations of many respectable knife owners that said this hole was the most functional knife opening system they'd ever used. And you know what? They were more right than I'd like to admit. The hole is VERY functional and practical, albeit ugly as sin. Do not let the aesthetics dissuade you.

My only beef with this knife (and with Spyderco in general) is that this knife is where the buck stops for me. As stated before, I cannot justify paying any more for an EDC than I did for the Tenacious. And while the Tenacious provides a great introduction to the Spyderco design/line, it is still a China made blade. The 8Cr13MoV steel just doesn't stack up to the 14C28N steel of the lesser priced Kershaw skyline, another intro-line blade (that costs less, even!) Because I favor the Skyline over the Tenacious, and because it costs less than the Tenacious, I docked the Tenacious a star. Don't let this dissuade you if you were thinking about getting into the Spyderco brand. This is a great knife. I just think it's inferior to my other affordable blade. But that's just my two cents.
