I bought this Spyker spreader on Amazon for $160.00, which seemed pretty high, but I hoped the stainless steel hopper would last longer than the plastic model that I just threw away. In a nutshell, the spreader is made almost entirely of metal parts with a few exceptions like the slide/gate that controls flow out of the hopper. It appears to be made of very good components, and does its intended function of spreading fertilizer well.
The only caution is that assembly was somewhat complex. Unlike the last spreader I bought at Home Depot, which came largely assembled, this spreader comes almost completely UNASSEMBLED, with a big bag of screws, nuts, pins, slides, etc. If you are not reasonably good at following assembly instructions, this might not be the spreader for you. . .However, if you see one at a local garden center that is already assembled, it could be a good choice if you don't mind paying $160.00 for a spreader. |
