5.0 out of 5 stars glam punk anyone?, April 23, 2002
This review is from: Squad Five-O (Audio CD)
whoa. when i first heard these guys back in their "bombs over broadway" days, i wasn't too sure i liked their sound. you see, i've always hated 80's glam, and i've found punk to be so clichéd nowadays. this album changed everything, i downloaded some of the songs on a whim and am glad i did. this is straight up fun rock'n'roll. they have just the right amounts punk, glam and energy. not so much glam as to be cheesy, not so much punk as to be posers (besides, it's more old school punk than today's pop-punk [stuff]), and you really can never have too much energy. good stuff. the album opener is fantastic, and it only gets better, they slow things down for "crystal coastline," but it's still and awesome song. there is not one downside to this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars punk & glam: This cd makes the connection, March 19, 2002

Growing up in the late 80's early 90's the first music to really move me was glam, and arena rock. My favorite bands were Poison, Ratt, and Guns N' Roses. It was not until '92 Nirvana, and Rancid introduced me to Punk. Later I would find 80's punk; The Ramones, Television, and D generation. It had always troubled me how there seemed to be no stylistic step between Glam, and punk, yet I knew they were related. The album Squad Five-o is that step. This band is that link.
The album begins with the rolling notes of Adam Garbinski's guitar fading in to introduce us to the rocking sing along "I Don't Want to Change The World I Just Want to Change Your Mind".
It then continues to sway perfetly from one rock subset to another till it convinces you that this is what rock was always meant to be. All the time evoking images as diverse as a bar stage, an open air arena on a summer night, lipstick, and leather. Standout tracks(hard to pick as nearly this entire album is amazing)include: "Make you Dance, Screaming with the Sirens; Adolescent Night; and Wasted". This Rock album will be My summer CD!
If you've never seen this band live do yourself the great service of doing so. When I first saw their high energy brand of live rock I immediatly became a fan. Their shows are usually not that expensive(like Fugazi cheap!!) and are often in pretty intimate venues. All in all A night w/ Squad Five-o, whether it be the album, the band or both is guaranteed to be an amazing Rock n' Roll experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This is Rock and Roll!, March 16, 2002

This album is the closest Squad Five-O has come to capturing the energy of their live show. Every track is solid. It is worth buying this CD just for "I Don't Want to Change the World, I Just Want to Change Your Mind", "Underground Hearts", and "Wasted (With You)". I honestly don't know what could have been improved on this album. If you are a fan of The Rolling Stones, D Generation, or the Ramones buy this album!!!!!!!!!!
