Great practice paper,

I bought this paper to fold origami boxes. It has a nice assortment of color, folds well, and is relatively inexpensive as far as origami paper is concerned.
I recommend it highly for practice paper and for "fun" paper. It has enough thickness for origami boxes. The boxes are quite sturdy. A lot of "bulk" paper is too thin for boxes. This paper doesn't have that problem. This paper is colored with the same color on both sides. This works well for many boxes. However, be aware that in box or modular origami, you often want paper colored on only 1 side (or colored differently on each side). Certain designs benefit greatly by the contrast.

Nice size but not quite perfect,

The great thing about this paper is its size. You don't often find origami paper that's larger than 6 X 6 inches. However, the paper is a little too thick for the intricate folds required of most origami. In addition, the paper is a solid color -- that is, the same color on both sides. I did not realize this when I purchased this product. This is fine if your origami design does not require the contrast of color that traditional origami paper provides or if you are an experienced folder. If you are new to origami or trying to teach origami to young students, the solid coloring can be confusing as most origami instructions refer to a colored side and a white side.

I am doing 1,000 origami cranes which can get quite expensive. And I have bought quite a lot of different types of origami paper including some very fine papers made in japan. I decided to get myself a big pack so I could crank out the cranes. This paper is very reasonably priced and well made. It feels very much like construction paper but thinner, it has that slightly fibrous and soft feeling that construction paper has. And I really like the 8 inch square size. This is my preferred working size.
This is perfect if you want a lot of paper cut very crisply at a very fair price. This is working paper and I don't recommend it if you want to do very complex folds or if you want to make show pieces. About the folding: This paper will give you decent folding but it won't give you the crispest folds that the more expensive paper will give you. It does take moisture very easily so if you practice wet folding you only need moisten it very sparingly.

This stuff is great for typical origami. However, it is a bit coarse and feels like thin construction paper in its texture and how it takes folds. Otherwise works well, like for large groups of kids--used it with my daughter's girl scout troop.

Although this is Origami paper, I bought it because the squares are exactly the right size for something I wished to wrap (well, many somethings). It worked great for what I wanted, especially because I could use the many different colors.
However, now that I am done with project, I think I will learn how to do Origami. The paper is a nice weight and is easy to fold. And having a choice of ten different colors is great, too. If I don't do too well learning Origami, I know I can think of ways to use the great colors in collage designs for the cards I make. Submitted: hlinnstoryteller |
