Product Description

Ideal for smartphone users on the go, the Square Jellyfish Tripod Mount is portable and easy to use. It can be mounted quickly to any tripod with a universal screw mount, or it can be mounted to Square Jellyfish's own new Pocket Tripod. The unique flexibility of the Tripod Mount arms allows a smartphone to be positioned vertically, horizontally or even upside down to hold the phone steady to take a picture. The arms can accommodate virtually any smartphone and can expand large enough to even hold the new larger Galaxy Note II. This new product can mount any smartphone to a tripod and keep it steady for photo taking, yet it's small enough to tuck in to a pocket, purse or bag without adding any weight or bulk to a trip.

I have a Samsung Note 2. There are very few mounts big enough for a Samsung Note 2. So, there's not a lot to choose from. This product is technically large enough to hold a Note 2. The problem is that the rubber hooks on the end of the hands are too deep for the Note 2. That means that it doesn't hold the phone steady unless you're leaning it against the body of the mount. I use it with a gorillapod so I'm able to lean it fairly easily. However, because I have to lean it, it's tough to get a straight-on shot.

In fact the rubber hooks are too deep for most slim phones made today. The Motorola Droid and iPhone are a little bit thicker than most phones so this will work better for those.

Had to purchase the device first, only to find out it was not wide enough to hold my Galaxy Note 3 phone and case. Suggest manufacturer include maximum dimensions that include protective cases.

Does exactly what it's supposed to!

I use this to mount my Note 3 in different places. Has a standard tripod thread on the bottom, which opens up all sorts of options. I stuck it on:
- a gorilla pod
- a tripod
- a tripod threaded light stand
- a tripod threaded brass spud

It was mildly amusing to use this to mount my phone to a fluid pan head, on a full sized pro video tripod, and do some 4k landscape pans.

But yeah grips my phone just right, and pretty solidly. And that's even with a double sized battery/back installed. Might work for an even larger phone/small tablet.

It works. It does require some fumbling to get your smartphone securely fitted. Right now I'm using it with a Nexus 4 and it should work with larger phones. I also have the Square Jellyfish Pocket Tripod and mostly use the combination of these two as a stand. If you arrange the arms a certain way and have it set at an angle you can drop your phone in and take it out easily without having to readjust the arms. It's nice that it can serve two purposes. I use it more as a stand than as a tripod mount.

I happen to also have the newer Square Jellyfish Smartphone Spring Tripod Mount (Pocket Tripod not Included) and find that it is much more convenient to quickly and securely attach the phone. Though I can't use it as a stand because it requires two hands to put in the phone.

So if you want a multi function device get this one otherwise if you only want to use it for taking photos I would recommend the newer spring loaded model.

Purchased this to go with a small GorillaPod when hiking and biking. Worked great. Soon after the company alerted me that they were releasing a upgraded version and they upgraded me for free!. No additional shipping or other fees. Just needed to provide them with a shipping address. They have earned a customer for life! Also, the upgraded mount is MUCH more secure and easier to use.

This excellent little device uses an interesting approach to hold my camera and attach it to a tripod. There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but soon came to love it. THEN, I found the Smartphone Spring Tripod Mount from the same company. It is a little more expensive, but easier and faster to use. That one I would give the full 5 stars to.

I used to carry a gorilla pod with my canon. But since I got this, I no longer use my canon, it holds my iphone 5, although I feel the phone is going to slip off the side if the mount is tilted.
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it the iphone case (not the rubbery kind). I just make sure it is horizontal to prevent that from happening.
You have to use this in conjunction with a tripod.

I'm very disappointed in this item although it does hold my phone it is not the item in the photo. Clearly the one in the as has a three arm contact point (which I wanted for a more stable hold) the item that I fog didn't have three arms only two. I don't recommend buying this if you are expecting three points of contact. I will never buy from this place again. I'm glad it was only 12 dollars. I actually got the spring loaded one. See the image below.
