When I decide to buy this kit Im waiting a trash of equipment but I think maybe its good for first Studio Kit.

The wireless transmitter that goes in your camera shoe comes with a single receiver, so you can set off a single light remotely.

I definitely recommend this kit to any photographer who is on a tight budget and needs some strobes and other PRO necessities.

I wasn't sure what to think of this when I first saw it but felt that it was worth a shot. I was tired of sacrificing my more expensive equipment when on location and wanted something that would allow me to have what I needed when I needed it. For the money (keep that in mind!!) this is a great system. I'm more than an amateur, but a little less than a pro, but have managed to make several of my clients very, very happy while using this setup. Oh, the softboxes are a pain in the neck to set up and the stands are a little wobbly but all in all, I found this to be a terrific deal. I still need one more light and would just as soon not have the gels since I never use them, but everything else works find. The reflectors are a good size, the backdrops will do in a pinch (my old stuff is far better so I haven't given them much of a test).

If you are looking for an inexpensive (all things being relative, of course) break into the world of studio photography, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck. Will this set last you forever? No. But it will help you hone your skills so that as you start to make the big bucks you can start upgrading without doubting your abilities.

Overall I wasn't impressed with the quality of this product. I am currently a 4th year college student and even at my "unprofessional" studio photography level, I found that this equipment was cheap and may break down over a short period of time. The photo of this product on Amazon doesn't clearly show the actual quality of the pieces in this kit. (for example, the light stands were flimsy and if taken outside would definitely fall with minor wind. Also the backdrops are NOT made out of muslin, but a cheaper quality that reminded me of a plastic picnic table cloth).
I gave it two stars because at the VERY basic level this kit would suit your needs as a beginning studio photographer.
I would strongly suggest contacting the seller before purchasing for information about quality of:
Light stands
Backdrops
Size of reflector
Softboxes
Umbrella

I received this lighting kit for my birthday and to be entirely honest, I'd actually removed it from my wish list because of the bad reviews. My husband bought it for me anyway. I'm now glad he did. It's not fancy, it's not pro-quality, but it's actually a decently made kit. The strobes are good, the light stands (while flimsy) only require a sandbag to make them stable for the soft boxes. Even with a heavier stand a sand bag would be a necessity, I mean, soft box are heavy and throw off the balance of any stand. (Yes, I tried one on my single professional stand)

I set everything up (a bit of a feat due to the sparse instructions, but if I can set it up I'm sure anyone could.) and the only set up issues I encountered were my difficulty getting the soft boxes put together and syncing the flashes for wireless. (The wireless sync DOES work, by the way. It doesn't communicate with the hot shoe adapter terribly well, but if I plug it in, it works fine. If you have an adapter it'll plug into the side of the adapter and then the side of the wireless remote. I didn't even notice the tiny cord while shooting.)

I had a mini-photo shoot where I tried everything out. It was about two hours of continuous use. None of that smoking light hoopla occurred. The lights worked well as strobes and continuous.

I got some excellent effects and the lights worked very well in my dark, basement studio.

My biggest annoyance (and it's really very minor), is that the stitching on the soft box diffuser and the Velcro came undone while I was dismantling the soft box. It's really no biggie since there was no tearing and a free handed bit of sewing will fix it.

All in all, I'm very happy my husband purchased this for me in spite of the bad reviews. You want professional?

I cannot believe this product. When I received the box in the mail I was optimistic to say the least. The soft boxes were pretty decent material and the set up seemed pretty straight forward. (which is good seeing that the only instructions with the kit was an inventory list and how to set up the wireless sync which only worked one light at a time...)The B&W backdrops were very TINY and the gray "hand painted" one was gigantic but quite ugly in my opinion. (and not to mention that this kit does NOT come with a backdrop stand!!) After I assembled the lights I gave them each a few test fires and everything worked - so I decided that even though it was obviously a cheaply made kit - I did not pay that much for it and was going to keep the kit. I am sending it back as I type. I had a photo shoot about a week after I first set up the studio and as they instructed I always turned off the lights and unplugged them from the wall. So I was prepping my studio room and found that I could not position my lights below a 90 degree angle.. the clamps were not strong enough to hold the weight of the soft box so I had to put books into one of my bags and place it as a counter weight which is just silly. My clients came and with the first shot one of the LIGHTS STARTED TO SMOKE!! and I am not talking about a little wisp of smoke. It was coming out of every available crack or crevice in the light house. Thankfully my husband was there to yank it out of the wall and run it outside. It didn't even have anything to do with the bulb. It could have started an electrical fire!! Not to mention that this all happened in front of clients. HOW EMBARRASSING!!! Save your self the insurance claim and the shame. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!! I would give it zero stars if I could.
