Product Description

Amazon.com

Potentially a permanent fixture in the homes of puzzle enthusiasts, this challenging pastime consists of a solid-backed oak frame and 14 oak pieces of varying sizes and shapes that slide around within it. One of the pieces is narrower than the others and can easily slip through a slot located in the lower, right-hand corner of the frame. Far less easy is maneuvering the Chosen Piece there. The object of the puzzle--of which there are a dozen variations of increasing complexity (43 moves for the first, 263 moves for the last!)--is to deduce which pieces need to slide where so that the logical route for the thin piece reveals itself. If you just can't figure some of the puzzlers out, solutions are available for $5 through a California address. --Tom Keogh

ONE OF THE BEST PUZZLES IN THE HISTORY OF SLIDING BLOCK PUZZLES... this and the 5 x 5 Grove are among my favorites. Probably the best 5 x 6 puzzle is quite a step up from the 4 x 4 puzzles Bobby Fischer mastered. We nongenius masters get a good workout here and geniuses need to touch this base. It makes the Tower of Mandalay look like the Tower of Pisa...

This is a great puzzle. Although it comes with pictures of the initial setup so you can puzzle a piece out, you can always play it backwards with friends.

The point of the game is to take out a square piece, which is thinner than the rest through a shallow window. Yet if you use it backwards you can play forever, as in time you can memorize the way each puzzle is solved. Some are rather challenging and all of them are fun.

Just try the pieces in any order you can imagine and try to squeeze-in the square piece as far in as you can. some times it wont go very far, but some times it will. count the steps and take a picture of it and toss it to friends to solve it. you will add more fun-time to the puzzle.

Visitors love it. Definitely a great puzzle for all ages.
