My PC did not have enough USB ports for the wireless USB dongle & I was on my way to Walmart to purchase port hub when the Fitbit One got caught on my seat belt & fell off my clothing to the ground. It was the very FIRST time I even wore it. I never even got to register the Fitbit One on my PC. I was so glad I purchased the Square Trade Protection Plan but so FRUSTRATED when I was told the coverage did not cover my dropping the Fitbit One - only electronic problems. Told the Square Trade rep I was not happy with her answer & she said there was nothing else she could do since the Fitbit fell on ground other than refund my $7.99. As of 2/24/13 the refund has not showed on my credit card. So I am left with a Fitbit One that does not work & how do I know there was not a problem before it fell on ground. Was very surprised to find out how fragile the Fitbit One was & am wondering if I am the the only one that has had the Fitbit One fall to ground & stopped working. Thought purchasing the Protection Plan would protect my $$99.95 purchase - why else would anyone even purchase the protection plan?

The first time I used Square Trade I bought a warranty to cover a refurbished Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker on eBay. I saved a bundle on the pressure cooker and got a lot of great use from it. Two weeks before the warranty was set to expire, the pressure cooker died. Square Trade immediately sent me a check for the original purchase price without any hassle, which I used to buy a brand-new pressure cooker from Costco. I almost felt guilty for my good fortune! Since then I've used it to cover items purchased on Amazon and other places as well.

I generally do not buy any kind of extra coverage on reliable brands whose items come with a warranty because I think they are a waste of money. If I really want to try an item that has mixed reviews, this warranty comes in handy to give me the confidence to take a chance on trying the item out. I pick and choose what I will buy a warranty for, depending on its chances of failing and the purchase price.

One thing I really like to use this warranty for is for gift-giving of expensive electronic items or appliances. I add on the "accidental damage" coverage as well since I'm a bit of a klutz. The warranty is transferable between owners too, as in the case of a Wii system that I gave to a family member who did not like it but wanted me to have it instead.

When buying the warranty, it's a good idea to talk to a live rep on the phone to make sure you get the right coverage, rather than just buying it online and guessing. You'll need certain information, such as: purchase date, purchase price, is item new or refurbished (this makes a difference), the make, model, & serial number, the manufacturer's warranty, the seller's warranty, how long you want the item to be covered, and if you want accidental damage coverage.

It appears that this so-called Protection Plan doesn't really protect at all. It doesn't cover accidental damage such as damage from water. I bought the coverage because I have already had two Fit Bits fail due to sweat that apparently damaged the unit because of the location I wore it. And apparently this so-called Protection Plan doesn't protect against that either. It was not clear that this would only cover what is covered by the warranty only for a longer period...First time, shame on me....

I bought a fitbit one with this protection plan, but when my fitbit fails to work and I filed a claim, it said the plan wouldn't cover the accidental damage!!! Then I canceled the plan, but only refund me $6.70 while the original price is $7.99. So they did nothing and earned $1.29 profit!!!!!! This is an obvious rip-off!!!!!!!!

Uploaded all the receipts. Gave them all the info they requested. Accounts activated. Put claim in. They sent me to the original manufacturer warranty which did not apply, etc. Bought two of the same items (one for a friend). When they second one stopped working and clearly the manufacturer warranty had expired the accounts mysteriously had never been activated yet I had the confirmation emails from square trade, etc. Every excuse in the book to not honor the warranty. A total waste of money and time.

Warranty seems to be good, but I would like a hard copy sent to me in the mail describing the product and that start and end date of the warranty. I don't know why this is so hard to get from the company. I can then keep it with my product.
