The currently correct answer from Square Trade is, "SquareTrade Protection Plans sold on Amazon only cover new products purchased within the last 30 days" (http://www.amazon.com/SquareTrade-Computer-Accident-Protection-700-800/dp/B002I007QW/ref=si_dp_po_B002I007QW_t).

On the Amazon website it clearly says " Worldwide Coverage If you need a repair while abroad, send us a valid repair receipt for your item and we will reimburse you within five business days." I haven't actually tested this claim myself but I bought my laptop and ST warranty in the US and I'm now in the UK and I bought the ST warranty on the strength of the recommendations by two friends who did the same.

You can go to the Square Trade website and check the FAQs, and possibly call them directly to ask them. The answer "from the horse's mouth" is the best way to go.
