wow. I usually don't write reviews because I'm indifferent, but I can't stay quiet after that. My Kindle got smashed in an earthquake and I put off calling in the claim because I dreaded haggling with someone I can't understand and making them do what the warranty said they would. I worried for nothing. They were kind, didn't argue with me, and I was on the phone for less than 10 minutes. Best of all, I will have a replacement Kindle in 2 days. 2 DAYS!!!! No haggling, no misunderstanding, no long explanations. They just said they were sorry it happened and they are sending me a new one! I will always use squaretrade for my future warranties, and I suggest everyone else does too!

When my husband damaged his kindle by dropping it on the floor when he fell asleep, we ordered a new kindle to replace it not knowing how long it would take to get the damaged kindle fixed or replaced. We were going to be leaving on a trip in three days and wanted to take it with us. We ordered a 2 day delivery on the new kindle. To our surprise, when we spoke to Square Trade, they offered quick delivery. The replacement kindle arrived in the morning before we left and the new kindle arrived in the afternoon of the same day. We were very pleased with both Square Trade and Amazon.

While I haven't yet received my Kindle, I can tell you that I will spend the extra money to purchase an extended warranty from SquareTrade. The reason is simple. SquareTrade works. I have purchased extended warranties through this company for a number of items because it's an inexpensive way to guarantee your electronics will be "saved" if anything untoward might happen. My real experience is this: I purchased a washing machine rated #1. I did a lot of research and thought I had the cream of the crop. I purchased a SquareTrade warranty just as a matter of course upon purchasing a new electronics item (and the new washing machines ARE electronic).

Lo and behold, my washing machine crapped out three - count 'em, THREE - times within 18 months with the exact same issue.

I didn't even bother with the manufacturer. I called SquareTrade and their super customer service people set me up with a local repair shop. When the repair shop failed to call me and I couldn't get in touch with their office by phone, I called SquareTrade and asked them what could possibly be going on? I didn't have my washer, didn't have a repair person, and here I was stuck going to the commercial laundromat, and that was NOT the way I wanted to spend my time off from work.

SquareTrade sent me a FULL product refund and included a FULL REFUND FOR THE COST OF THE WARRANTY for my trouble.

I love SquareTrade. I recommend them to everyone looking into extended warranties. I will be a SquareTrade customer for a very, very long time. SquareTrade warranties are less expensive than manufacturers' extended warranties, are useful for refurbished items, for electronics purchased through ebay, and THE WARRANTIES WORK.

In addition, SquareTrade has a very well run website where you can view all your warranties in one place AND you can upload scans of your receipts so you don't have to hunt around for them should you have to file a claim.

Just FYI, I don't work for SquareTrade but I am definitely a returning customer.

I'm a SquareTrade repeat customer because I've received good service on a 'keyboard' Kindle that had to be replaced 15 months after purchase. The replacement was quick and I did not have to spend hours on the phone with the customer service. Since then, I've added a TV and a Blu player and I am now buying coverage for our new Kindles.

This warranty extends the default warranty coverage to 2 years. Translation: if the Kindle came with a one-year warranty, buying it will give you TWO years of total warranty coverage, NOT three. The 'accident' gives you some extra coverage that Amazon's doesn't cover.

IF, after paying for coverage and reading the terms you don't agree, you have 60 DAYS to cancel and get your money back. This is a good thing because it should be enough time to read the agreement and decide whether to keep the coverage.

As far as warranties go, this one is okay. Very much in line with what most electronics warranties provide these days. Going through the legalese, this is what gets covered and how.

- The amount of coverage is limited to the amount you paid to purchase the product (minus shipping and taxes).
- You are covered for operational and accidental damage but not covered if you abuse your Kindle.
- They will fix and replace your broken Kindle and your replacement may be a refurbished model or a newer model or you may receive 'your money back' if they can't do either.
- If your Kindle breaks three times you get a replacement and coverage ends (the no-lemon clause).
- There can be only ONE replacement under the plan. Do NOT confuse 'claims' with actual replacements.
- If you purchase coverage at the same time you bought your Kindle, accident coverage begins immediately. If you purchase it withing 30 days, accident coverage begins 30 days after you bought the warranty.

In addition, you will not be covered if:

- your dog (animals) or insects damaged your product
- it was stolen
- it mysteriously disappeared
- you were in a war zone
- you were outside the US
- you used your Kindle in ways not intended or your modified it

The plan does not cover scratches, cracks or any other cosmetic issues for as long as your Kindle keeps working.

As far as service is concerned, once you contact the provider, they will ship you a replacement Kindle if yours stopped working without waiting for you to send them the damaged item - that was my actual experience. They will take your credit card number and ship you the replacement and a prepaid postage label you to use with the return. For as long as you send the broken Kindle within 30 days, they will not charge your credit card. If you don't, you WILL be charged for the replacement.

I would rate this plan as 'good' because it's backed by Amazon, they will ship a replacement without waiting for your broken Kindle and because they clearly spell out the warranty terms on a one-page contract and because it appears to be fairly priced. When deciding to go for it I decided for myself that the cost was reasonable and expense was worth the extra year of 'peace of mind'.

I was so disappointed that I lost my newly bought (1 book old) kindle to a huge wave that splashed on the north shore beach in oahu, hawaii. As i was still in 30 days period of buying kindle, i was eligible to signup for this protection plan and am so glad i did so. Now I have a replacement coming in couple of days. Yaay!!

Our family has multiple Kindle's and I've had 3 opportunities to use our protection plans. I broke the first one when I knelt on it (I placed it on a chair then knelt on said chair). This sucked...I was in the hospital where a family member had just had brain surgery and I wasn't leaving this place until he was in the clear. The very best outcome I could imagine was getting a replacement with minor hassles and having to wait until I got home in a couple of weeks to start reading again. I was shocked, absolutely shocked when I called. I explained how I damaged the Kindle...no problem, the warranty covered that. Then I explained my circumstances regarding not being at home to get the new kindle. They are not supposed to mail the new one to an address that isn't on you're Amazon account, but the representitive put me on hold, spoke to her supervisor, and got permission to overnight it to me at the ICU help desk in the hospital! It was an exreme circumstance and this rep who didn't know me and had no reason to help me other than to be nice, went out of her way to help me. I was impressed. So when I decided to get a Kindle DX for the bigger screen size I got the warranty again. This one I dropped in a puddle, and when I called I again had no problem replacing it, I had it in 2 days. The most recent replacement was for my daughter's Kindle, her brothers were wrestling and knocked it off of the table. Third claim, third time having no issue getting the replacement. I've had plenty of opportunities in my life to wrestle with companies to try to force them to honor their warranties, but I've never had an issue with the Kindle protecton plan. I will never own a Kindle without buying this coverage!

I normally don't read what warranties cover (I know, I know, I should but some are just too wordy), but this one was one that I did and I am glad I chose to do so. I was pleasantly surprised at what all the warranty covered. I have a two year old and just knew that I had to have the warranty for my Kindle in case she got a hold of it. The registration was easy and the price was VERY reasonable for a two year warranty that covers so much. I'll definitely purchase a warranty from them again!!

The warrenty provider did not inform us that we were 1 day late in purchasing the warranty through them, BUT took the money anyway and did not re-fund it until AFTER one of the Kindles needed service!

I am enraged! I suffered a damaged Kindle only to learn that Square Trade will NOT cover it. Why? Because they say the coverage I purchased is not for the exact type of Kindle I own. But I say: it was when I bought this Kindle that I purchased the Square Trade coverage. The same day. The same moment! How could they sell me NOTHING? If it was my fault and I was supposed to buy DIFFERENT coverage, shouldn't they have TOLD me or WARNED me or HELPED me get the correct coverage? FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD
