5.0 out of 5 stars Walter Parks , all about the TONE
OK, the naysayers are already here , labeling this as trailerpark blues, or done so many times, bla, bla, bla. I have to say, this album, and their first one, HONK, are pretty good for me as a guitar player. Parks' tone and the inclusion of finger picked guitar and banjo, and his style, which at times almost sounds like ragtime, is fun and sounds great in the car. They do...

3.0 out of 5 stars Swamp Cabbage - 'Squeal' (Zoho Music)
Decent blues CD release from trio that comes to you from North Florida. Tracks I was semi-impressed with here were the ZZ Top-like "Jesus Tone", "Dixieland", the instrumental "Sopchoppy", the jamming "Purdy Mouth" (love that song title) and the seven minute laid-back "Poontang". Some might tag this genre as trailer park 'roots blues'. Line-up: Walter Parks-guitar &...

Some might tag this genre as trailer park 'roots blues'. Line-up: Walter Parks-guitar & vocals, Matt Lindsey-bass and Jagoda-drums. The music on this CD is well played but I wanted to make sure and mention this particular style of blues has been repeatedly done over SO many times before. Enjoy.

Parks' tone and the inclusion of finger picked guitar and banjo, and his style, which at times almost sounds like ragtime, is fun and sounds great in the car. They do sound a bit like the real ZZ Top, before the synthesizers came in, just a 3 piece, low tech blues band. I went to their website and ordered their live cd, and Walter just sent it to me with a poster that he signed personally, I could still smell the Sharpie! Great fun, funny lyrics, and for those who are bashing Steve Miller's new cd as too smooth blooze, this stuff is a bit more raw and gritty. Check out their videos on youtube too. They look they are having fun and not taking themselves to seriously. Neither should you. Enjoy.

I REALLY LIKE THIS CD.GRITTY VOCALS,GRITTY GUITAR, CATCHY LYRICS AND A RYTHM SECTION THATS TIGHTER THAN BARK ON A TREE.IT'S JUST PLAIN OLD FUN.THE SOUND IS SHURELY GOING TO BE COMPAIRED TO ZZ TOP,BUT I THINK IF BILLY GIBBONS HEARD THIS CD HE'D HAVE ONE THING TO SAY "HAVE MERCY"

A friend recommended this band and I'm glad he did. They have a completely unique sound and style that grabs you from note one and makes you get your groove.
