This guitar package is great! I am a beginner and it is great to start off with. The guitar is absolutely beautiful and the accessories are really great. It comes with a dozen picks, an instruction booklet, chromatic tuner, and gig bag. The guitar sounds wonderful. The only con that I have is that the action seems a little high, therefore making it a little tough on beginner's hands. But anything will be tough on a beginner's hands because we are not used to pressing down on thin (or thick for that matter) pieces of steel. Other than that, it is awesome!

UPDATE: After having the action adjusted by a pro at a guitar repair shop, the guitar is even more of an absolute joy to play! It does not hurt my fingers hurt at all anymore. So if you are having problems with the action being too high, take it to a local guitar repair shop and have them look at it and adjust it. Your fingers will thank you!!! GREAT GUITAR!!

I purchased this guitar for my husband as a beginning player. He is very satisfied now that he has found good strings to replace the original. But no biggie, strings need to be replaced on a regular basis anyway. It has a nice tone and is a nice looking guitar. We purchased another case for the guitar also. But I didn't buy the kit for the guitar cover. I would recommend this product as we both are happy with the purchase.

This guitar is much better than I expected for 100 dollars. It is beautiful and sounds great to my new to guitars ears. Great pack for the money.

Guitar arrived in good shape, it actually had guitar pics which I didn't know (I had ordered some separately). Also came with an electronic tuning device, which was nice.

I am teaching myself how to play guitar, never played an instrument before. It seems to hold the tuning pretty well over the few weeks that I have had it. It does sound a bit twangy on the E cord but that may just be the string (I have not replaced them).

The fender method book that comes with it seems pretty good, I was using it for a few days to learn and I seemed to make good progress. However; I have moved to a different book that I bought that seems a bit more in depth but it was a good starting point for me.

For me, spending $100 on this seems to be worth while. Works well for what I wanted, which was to get a decent starter guitar for a decent price.

I was going to try to learn the guitar and I talked to my brother in law (who is a good guitarist) and he recommended me to just get the cheapest decent guitar you can that included a tuner. He recommended me getting one for around $100. He recommended a cheap one to learn on just so that I could decide that if I wanted to continue playing the guitar after my skills are sharpened then to spend some money and buy a more expensive guitar. I have really enjoyed learning with this guitar and following along in the book that came with the package called "The Fender Guitar Method". So far it has been easy to follow along and I enjoy playing all of the songs in the book. It was also fairly easy to learn how to tune the guitar as well. In summary, I don't have expreience with other guitars but this one has been good to me so far and If it lasts for another year or two then the $99 it costs will be well worth it and far cheaper than any other entertainment that you could get elsewhere. This is the perfect guitar to have by your side during a long deployment. The sound is crisp and rich. The tuner that was included is better than I expected. The case however is worthless. All this of course is trumped by the hours of enjoyment you will get from playing this great priced guitar!

We purchased this guitar for our 12-year-old daughter who's never played before, and it has been a big hit so far. The guitar was really pretty to look at (nice shade of light tan and darker brown w/ a pretty varnished finish on it). Also, it was very easy to tune w/ the tuner that came with it. She has had a really fun time teaching herself some chords, and the guitar has a very pretty tone to it. It's also a nice size for her (I'm assuming it's full-size; it's definitely not a smaller-than-usual guitar by the looks of it), and the included strap works great, too. It has also been pretty easy for her to play (not too hard to press down on the strings), without our having to adjust it in any way. Her fingers are a tad sore after practicing on it, but that's to be expected. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is due to the included case, which might as well NOT be included. It's just a foldable, vinyl/plastic case that's soft, so other than a good dust prohibitor, it's really not good for anything as far as protection of the instrument goes. All-in-all...we feel really good about this purchase.

Let me preface that I rarely write reviews for products but I figured I would try and give my honest opinion on this product and hopefully be able to help anyone who is considering purchasing this specific guitar.

Pros-
Inexpensive. At $100, this is a steal. But there is that saying you get what you pay for.
Good sound. (partially. I'll explain in Cons)Playing it has a great resonance and the guitar is solid and very well made.
Great for beginners. This is my 3rd guitar and I think from now on I'll actually go to a guitar store so I can have a feel of the guitar before I purchase it, even if it ends up being mroe expensive or time consuming. This is a pretty personal instument and you want to make sure it fits you both physically and asthetically.

Cons- As mentioned above, the first thing I noticed was that on the 6th string on the 12th fret, there is a very noticable metalic "twang" anytime the note is played. also the 13th and 14th fret play the exact same note. There is something wrong with the fret board and its very disapointing to play a song and find that it's now impossible to hit a certain note on that string.

This metalic ringing sound was apparent all the way across the fret board on the 13th fret. Just a small machining error when it was mass produced I guess.

I might be the only one with this defect but if not then I guess more people would be noticing that and adding it to a review to warn others. (though this is one of my first reviews)

All in all this is a great first guitar for a brand new musician or someone who is not worried about breaking the bank or not worried about having to be overly protective.

The price is just right, the guitar is excellent. I am just a beginner but it feels good and sounds perfect. Maintains the tuning and is not too hard on the fingers.

I bought this guitar (Fender SA-100 Upgrade) for a few months ago. It gives a very nice sound, I love it. But, the thing I don't like is the fret(metal strips embedded along the fretboard)that always hurts my index finger.It's not fully embedded in the fretboard, so it scratches my finger when I change the chord. Then,I use a nail file to unsharp them. I'm lazy to return it.
