4.0 out of 5 stars Nice guitar for the price
The Squier Bullet that I have is actually the model without the tremolo, however, everything else is just about the same as the model you see above. It's a nice guitar for the money. Nice size, action, and finish. It's not a high-end guitar so don't expect it to sound like one, but for a beginner, it's pretty sweet. I bought a more expensive blues guitar and had planned...

Nice size, action, and finish. It's not a high-end guitar so don't expect it to sound like one, but for a beginner, it's pretty sweet. I bought a more expensive blues guitar and had planned on trading this one in or selling it, however, I like it so much, that I plan on keeping it as a back up. Parts are pretty easy to come by (with slight modifications, but that's to be expected) and fairly cheap too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad, February 10, 2011
This review is from: Squier by Fender BulletStrat w/Trem, Arctic White (Electronics)
I have alot of really expensive guitars, and I play every style, so I knew not to expect too much from these guitars, but they are not as bad as they look. Then again they are for kids under the age of ten. For starting out on guitar, they are decent and of the several I bought for my kids there were no problems other than they do not stay in tune well. The red is not not a deep red, more of an orange red, the arctic white is not white it is a yellow cream color and the Daphne blue is more of a sea green. But the black is actually black. So just keep the whammy bar off and you are all set.

I have one of the early models (without the trem) this really helps the sound & the tuning IMHO, the sustain & volume of
the guitar when not plugged-in is twice as loud as my MIM strat.
With a very light fret dressing this is one of the best necks I've played in years.

Now the down side, for $120 don't expect a stage ready guitar, for a beginner it's fine right out of the box if you stick with it have a local shop set it up for you, it's worth the money honest.

The 2 main things that must be upgraded are the pickups & the tuners, once you upgrade those it's like night and day when plugged-in it screams & stays in tune no matter how hard I play it. I got a used set of Squire "Standard Strat" series pickups (Alnico 5) they sound as good as a regular American Strat& a decent set of Fender copy tuners for $40 you have to be a bit handy to do this work but it's not brain surgery. Some extra shielding helps to cut down on the hum
& noise. (also an easy fix)

Now it sounds as good if not better than my MIM strat even with the thinner & much lighter body, personally I find it
more comfortable to wear for long sets & if you have small to medium sized hands you will find the narrower neck enables you do much more, have you ever noticed the hands of the truly great players like Hendrix, SRV, Jeff Beck etc are huge & make a regular Strat look like a toy :) well the rest of us are stuck with the hands we got.

Anyway it's true you get what you pay for but with a little work these babies are NOT TOYS they are real instruments.
Kudos to Fender & Squire for making a starter guitar that is not total junk.

Good luck and I hope this helps somebody.
PS. Get one with a solid color, the bodies are often made from 2 or more pieces of wood and if you get the sunburst
you can clearly see the joints, just an esthetic thing but worth mentioning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Strat Value, October 17, 2010
This review is from: Squier by Fender BulletStrat w/Trem, Arctic White (Electronics)
I went to my local music store, set on buying a Made-In-Mexico Strat, but couldn't pass this little guitar up for 1/4 of the price! I actually bought two, I was so impressed. Sure, it's not an American Strat, headstock snobs will turn up their noses at the Squier brand, and quality control isn't top-tier (as with several Squier guitars). But it plays great, is very light weight, and has a wonderful neck. Great for any guitarist, in any application. The tuners and nut are exceptionally cheap, some examples had sloppy neck joints, and you may want to check out a couple models in person to find a prime example, but the ones made correctly are 100% Strat. Highly recommended for any guitarist; an incredible buy.
