I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY GRANDSON WHO RECENTLY STARTED PLAYING GUITAR. I HAVE PLAYED FOR OVER 60 YEARS AND PLAY JAZZ AND POP. I HAVE A STANDARD JAZZ RIG INCLUDING A EPIPHONE ARCHTOP, POLYTONE AMP AND KENT ARMSTRONG FLOATING PICKUP.

THIS GUITAR IS SIMPLY GREAT AND YOU GET THE WHOLE PACKAGE. IT PLAYS EASY, HAS A 5 POSITION PICKUP SELECTOR, IS VERY WELL MADE IN CONSTRUCTION AND APPEARANCE. IN THE NECK PICKUP POSITION, THE GUITAR HAS A SWEET AND ROUND JAZZ SOUND WHICH REALLY SURPRISED ME. THE OTHER SELECTOR SWITCHES RUN THE RANGE FROM ROCK TO ALL THE OTHER SOUNDS THE KIDS JUST LOVE. SO MY GRANDSON HAS THE OPTION OF PLAYING DIFFERENT STYLES AND SOUNDS. OF COURSE, I HOPE HE GRAVITATES TO JAZZ.

THE ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD IS VERY EASY TO PLAY AND THE GUITAR IS STRUNG WITH FENDER LIGHT GAUGE STRINGS WHICH ENHANCES PLAYABILITY ESPECIALLY FOR A YOUNGSTER STARTING OUT,AND,THERE IS NO DEGRADATION OF TONE. AGAIN, I WAS VERY SURPRISED.

THE AMP IS A VERY NICE PRACTICE AMP AND PRODUCES A LOVELY SOUND.

THIS PACKAGE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS AND I AM SO HAPPY THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET THIS FOR MY GRANDSON.

I MIGHT JUST BUY ONE FOR GRANDPA!!

I am new to the guitar but not a total beginner in music and was thrilled all that you get in the package. Both the guitar and amp are more than adequate as a practice rig for a beginner. I am impressed that the hardware to adjust the truss and string action were included. The guitar has a beautiful sunburst finish with reddish brown pickguard. Everything was functional and easy to use, although I will say the strap is a little loose and the stand is a little light, but what more can you expect for $149. The small amp gets pretty buzzy and noisy around 7-8, but if you keep the volume below blasting, the sound quality is good enough.
If you're doing performances, I would definitely upgrade the strap, tuners, stand and amp, but for just starting out, this package is more than adequate.

Overall I think this is a good starter kit.
the body seems to be great, the neck and frets are good; the only bad part is the head, it's rough and could have been finished way better, not well sanded , rough spots around the edge and not much finish - no gloss to it at all.

seems to tune up ok and play ok, the only buzz i hear so far is my novice fingering.

the electronic tuner had no real instructions to speak of so i found a you-tube video that told me what to do.

the dvd is a cut down version and imho is missing what the new user needs the most - HOW TO SETUP and HOW TO TUNE!

the "Pick Sampler" well really they just put in 3 medium picks that were only different in color, it would have been better if they gave us different ones like hard, medium or whatever...

the amp seems like a good first amp.

like i said this seems fair as a starter.

I grew up around musicians, but never learned to play anything but bass. I bought this because I love Fender products and have always had good luck with them. Plus the kit was cheap and seemed like it had everything I needed to learn. I was more than happy with the delivery date. The estimated shipping time was about a month, it got here (Germany) in about a week. There was no damage to anything in the kit and everything (with the exception of the tremolo springs needing to be tightened) was good to go. With a little tuning, I was playing in no time. Perfect kit for beginners. Would definately recommend this product. I will also be buying other items from the seller due to the timely international shipping. Two thumbs up.

I'm a 100% beginner, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
I think this guitar is perfect for someone like me whom for many years have wanted to learn guitar but never really had the guts to start. I got this beauty three days ago and with the help of an amazing free website ([...]) I've been learning how to play it and really enjoy it. To my untrained ears, this guitar sounds great! I've listened to other much more expensive guitars and I really can't tell the difference. The look and the feel is also the same to me. I don't know why would anyone want to buy a more expensive guitar to learn.
It feels really solid and the finish and details look decent to me. Some people complain about small details like that the wood is not very well sanded in the head (to which I agree), but honestly, who cares!!!! it's an inexpensive guitar and it sounds and feels great. You shouldn't expect a $2,000 feel in a $150 guitar (less if you consider the cost of all the additional stuff). I actually think that the quality is excellent for the price. I would have expected much less!
The little amplifier sounds very clear at normal volumes and is loud enough to fill a decent size room to the point it becomes annoying to my ears. The electronic tuner is extremely handy (although the manual that comes with the tuner is ridiculous! no beginner could understand that!). I learned how to use it after watching the video about tuning in the website I mentioned above. The stand is great! very useful. And the gig bag is a lot better than I expected (again, I don't know why some people complain! what do you expect for the money!). It also comes with a strap and three picks... all and all, I believe you get a great deal!
Again, If you are a beginner, I would definitely recommend this guitar. It's beautiful and it sounds and feels solid. Excellent for the money!

I recently "survived" 3 days in our local hospital and at 63yo, I decided to treat myself by ordering this guitar and practice amp. I played a little guitar 35 years ago but nothing too serious.

I love this little Fender guitar! Not a day has gone by since it arrived that I don't take the time to practice at least 30-60 minutes.
It plays smoothly, stays in tune very well, and the practice amp is all you need to get started.
For the money it is a great guitar.
For learning and initial playing of the guitar, I don't think you can go wrong. The enclosed Fender CD is a great learning tool to get started and what really got me going was purchasing the new "Garage Band" program for my macbook for $15.!! I can plug this guitar right into the computer and the program and take lessons and practice there for a long long time. It is a slick program and I can't think of a better way to progress through the levels of basic guitar playing.

Maybe someday, if I survive another local hospitalization, I'll be ready for a high level Fender Strat or so but for the time being, I am every so happy with this guitar. Plays easily, sound it great, what more do you need???

I recommend without reservation, this guitar setup if you are interested in making some commitment to guitar playing.

As a first sign of midlife crisis, I bought this electric guitar (the sportscar, sailing trip around the world or 20yearold girlfriend were too expensive...). I play the piano and saxophone but I have never played a guitar. After a weired look from my wife and being declared the worlds best dad by my boys I started to learn the strums and picks and it became soon obvious that I am hopeless. But the guitar quality is great for this, the amplifier is sufficiently loud to annoy the neighbors. The little tuner thingy is neat (once I figured out how it works - unfortunately there are no instructions). There should also be instructions how to get different sounds with the amp, rather than me having to permutate all the nobs and buttons. But me and my boys are having a lot of fun with this instrument (not my wife and the neighbors though...). As I mentioned, I am not an experienced guitar player so I cannot comment on all the intricacies of the guitar, but I give it 4 stars for sound, handling and quality. One star is missing for the non-existing instructions.

This is exactly what the packaging calls it: a chance for someone who has never had an electric guitar to stop dreaming and start playing, at a very reasonable price.

The package comes with a rock solid guitar (I was actually pleasantly surprised that it sounds as good as it does), and the amp, while certainly not high-end, is perfect for a beginner to practice at home with. Overall, this is a great package deal for someone to learn how to play guitar on; though once they get experienced with it, I think most skilled musicians will eventually invest in something more upscale.

I would recommend picking up separate picks and strings however. They are an inexpensive investment, and the ones the package comes with are servicable, but not fantastic.

Bought this package for my 15 year old son. He had some experience playing acoustic and picked this up right away. Everything he needed to play was included, and the guitar only needed some tuning before he was able to start. Definitely a great price and a great product for a beginner set.

Bought this for my husband who has never played guitar. He absolutely loved it. The instructionaly DVD was not much help; he prefers to learn from YouTube videos...he also kinda plays by ear. Great price for what you get!
