If you are even remotely interested in squirrel hunting you will enjoy this unique book. Mr. Osborn does an excellent job covering every aspect from the history of squirrel dogs to the training of squirrel dogs. I bought Squirrel Dog Basics before I got my first squirrel dog, an Original Mountain Cur, and applied several of Osborn's tips in training the dog. My cur has turned out to be an A#1 squirrel treeing maniac. I have also purchased two other books as gifts for friends, both of whom greatly enjoyed the book. You can't go wrong, buy the book, get a dog and join the fun.

Spends as much, probably more, time looking at different squirrel dogs as instruction on teaching them - but it's the only book on the subject and it's well done as it is.

As the name hints the book is basic, but overall it is a well researched book and I did find it informative. I enjoyed the sections of different breeds used for squirrel hunting and history of these breeds.I would reccommend the book for a beginner or even a seasoned dog handler can pick up a thing or two.

This book contains some of the best advice around. A sound buy for a new dog hunter.

The author describes the book correctly in his title "Squirrel Dog Basics". If you have ever been squirel hunting then most of the covered topics would be of little interest. I did like the last section of the book. This would be a good book for someone that has never been Squirrel hunting.
