5.0 out of 5 stars exact replacement for Falcon MLG-26i
I have a 10 year old Huffy Verona 18 speed mountain bike, that originally had Falcon MLG-26i twist shifters, these falcon shifters are very common in low-end mountain bikes. The Falcon shifter cracked and was beyond repair. I searched for a twist shifter replacement locally, the only replacements i found where Shimano shifters that cost more than the old bike itself. 2.0 out of 5 stars Item received is not what is pictured
The SRAM shifter was received in the original packaging but the part does not match the picture or the installation instructions. The picture shows an adjustment screw for the cable but this shifter does not come with one. Even SRAM's Website shows and describes the screw. Had to return for a refund. Otherwise the part seemed to be well made for the price and probably...

5.0 out of 5 stars exact replacement for Falcon MLG-26i, December 6, 2009

This review is from: Sram MRX Comp Twister Mountain Bike Shifter - Rear (Misc.)
The Sram MRX was an excellent replacement at a very low price.

The price on the Sram cannot be beat, and the shipping was ultra fast, it only took 4 days from the time I ordered to arrive. Installation is very easy, since the SRAM MRX already includes the cable. The instruction sheet is a little lacking, only having instructions on how to install the shifter on the handle, not how to adjust the derailleur. There are plenty of tutorials on-line on how to adjust once installed. The Sram shifter is much smoother than my old Falcon, it feels more like a friction shifter than an index one, except for the slight "click" that tells you that you have selected a gear. It is important to have a 2.5mm allen key available to install the shifter. I would also recommend buying a set of replacement cable sleeves, as the old ones could be rusted and will not allow the new cable to slip trough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install and well-working replacement, August 12, 2007

I had shifter with a broken piece and needed a replacement. I found this part to be an easy replacement without a serious upgrade in quality. This wasn't the exact replacement part but the next uptick in quality. It appears to have been almost the same part. I have never installed a shifter and found it quite a simple procedure.

Shifter is easy to install. A perfect replacement for my bike's original shifter that wore out. Shift points line up perfectly with my cluster gear. Works very well, but I wish the shifts were crisper.

I especially like Niagara Cycle Works. They have low prices, good service, and delivered more than I paid for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good replacement, June 15, 2011

The shifter was really easy to install, fit perfectly. It works well. I've only been using it two weeks, so I cannot judge how long it will last. The only negative was that the cable was ten inches too long so I had to cut it by the derailer. This leaves an unsecured end of twisted wires which would catch on clothing and unravel with time. I bought an electrical connector at the hardware store to crimp on the end to prevent unraveling. It would be nice if this item were included with the shifter.

replaced the frozen shifter from daughter Schwinn. was good fit and easy to install. This is only the one shifter so if you need both the 3 and 7 then you have to order both.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works finel., April 18, 2008
It has a 1:1 pull ratio which is fine.
It has a light touch, so in gloves it is easy to shift when you don't intend to.
I am using it on my recumbent.

I bought this because my grandson, a 6 year old bull in a china shop, managed to drop his bike and brake the oem one. I have to say, this one works better than the one the bike came with...very smooth, positive feel, and when adjusted properly (duh), works perfectly! I'd recommend this to anyone. Very nice at a good price.

This review is from: Sram MRX Comp Twister Mountain Bike Shifter - Rear (Misc.)
I replaced a falcon twist grip rear shifter on a older mountain bike. The local bicycle dealer told me the part would be $80 plus labor and then called me back and said he could not find the part and tried to sell me a used mountain bike in his shop. I found and ordered the part on amazon and recieved it in 3 days. It took me about 20 minutes to take the broken shifter off and put the new one on. It paid to do a little research and I will not buy anything from the local bike dealer again.
