More About the Author

Geraldine "Geri" Guadagno, born in California and raised in Mountain View. After graduating from San Jose State University, she worked in finance. She left this career--with a lead parachute--to pursue her lifelong dream of writing for children. Eventually, she also left California for Texas.

Through course work, conferences and workshops, including those of the Highlights Foundation and SCBWI, Geri was first published in a Catholic children's magazine (2006). St. Joseph's Story, her first book, is also being sold in the UK and Australia. Her second picture book, Irene the Elephant, was published by New City Press in 2012. A third book, her first for "grown-ups" has just been released, "Five Steps to Facing Suffering."

Geri thanks her parents for creating her love for reading and books; her husband and son for their love and support; her family and friends for their belief and encouragement; and her dog for giving her daily walks/an excuse to leave the computer.

A well-written and illustrated book about a faithful servant of God. People of all ages will appreciate the trials Joseph went through to marry his virgin wife while maintaining his strong belief and faith in God. Joseph was a thoughtful man who prayed for understanding and courage. Many books have been written about Mary, the mother of God as well as the birth of Christ but sadly, little has ever been mentioned of St. Joseph. Thanks to Geraldine Guadagno and her illustrator Maria Cristina Lo Cascio, there is finally attention given to the man who raised Jesus as his own and was never granted the proper admiration for his major part in our Christian faith. I absolutely recommend this book to both old and young Christians world-wide.

I have read St Joseph's Story well over 30 times ( it part of what I do for my company). To parents, grandparents or any family members or friends, this is a wonderful book that will delight children and teach them about a great man and Saint who does not receive the honor and attention that he should. The prose is enchanting and enthralling, enabling the reader or listener ( reading aloud to children is the most critical element to improve their reading skills) develop their own "theater-of the-mind" experience. The illustrations are truly a work of art.

Children's Christian books are not just for the kids and this is particularly true of St Joseph's Story.

Father's this is a story and a blueprint for what God calls us to be as husbands and fathers. The story is so beautifully written that as you read it you will want to be like Joseph and desire you son to learn to do the same. If you have daughter's, Joseph IS the role model of how a boy or man should treat your little girl, letting her know she is worthy of such a man.

If your children are older, maybe just getting married or ready to start a family of their own, what a wonderful "how to" guide.

We are called by God to be generational glue to the children in our lives. This book is a blessing for it shows young and old alike how we are to love those who God has given us to care for, and build up in the character of Christ.

I love the simple yet spiritual language in this retelling of the Christmas story from Joseph's point of view. A child could definitely relate to Joseph as a young boy learning carpentry and prayer from his own father. Adults and children alike will be inspired by Joseph's prayer for guidance when Mary tells him she's expecting a baby. The dream scene is beautifully written and illustrated to show God's faithfulness to his followers. Joseph's "strong and gentle" hands are a recurring reminder of God's care for those who love him.

This most wonderful little book makes easy reading, with colourful illustrations for children wanting to know more about the Christmas story.
The Author takes a different aspect of the well known story and puts the reader into the shoes of Joseph and how he may have felt throughout the forthcoming days before the birth of Jesus.

I would recommend this book to any little girl or boy as an all
round "feel good" book, or a Christmas stocking filler to bring back the true meaning of Christmas
