One of the best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Landmark Visitors Guide St. Lucia (Landmark Visitors Guide St Lucia, 3rd ed) (Paperback)
One of the best travel book series, with attention to detail, plus numerous color photographs and fine maps. Lots of instructions regarding practical travel matters. (Travel BooksReview)

St Lucia Guide,
By
This review is from: St. Lucia Visitors Guide (Paperback)
This book is one of the best travel handbooks we have read. It gives a broad, concise and user friendly guide to the Island of Saint Lucia. As parents who have a family that has moved there we needed to know about the Island, it's good points, it's attractions, how to get there and a number of other questions.
These have all been answered and we look forward to our Christmas in the West Indies.

Good for visit, but not for travel planning,

This book seems like it will be very helpful once you reach your destination, but is not a good resource for helping you book your trip. The lodging options were very limited & there were no e-mail addresses or websites, only phone numbers. I don't know about you, but I would prefer to not deluge my phone bill with international calls.

No good.,
This review is from: Landmark Visitors Guide St. Lucia (Landmark Visitors Guides) (Paperback)
This book was disappointing. It spends almost all its pages charting a theoretical trip from the capital down to the south and precious few pages describing and recommending restaurants, sights, activities, and lodgings. For all of the important things a traveler who might not stay at an all-inclusive resort wants to know, information is scant. For instance, "Best Beach: Anse la Raye." Why? How is it different than the others? If I'm visiting the Caribbean for the beaches, I want to know more. Most of the time, the author seems content simply to describe what's on the island rather than make any judgements or recommendations about what's there. Are the Daimond falls worth seeing, the Pitons worth climbing, the snorkel trips worth taking, the pricey resorts and hotels and restaurants worth visiting? If so, which ones are the best for those with limited time and money? The book is absolutely no help on this. It offers a few sentences on each place, but doesn't help you filter out the best options. Many of the sights and accomodations on St. Lucia have helpful websites, but the book contains no web addresses. There are also a few fallacies, such as "taxies are cheap and plentiful", which is incorrect on both counts. Rather than use this book, call the tourist board in St. Lucia. They were the best source we found in our time there.

This was a big rip off!!! You charged me 41.00 plus shipping and when the book arrived from Best Bargain Books, located in Patchogue Long Island (which is ten minutes from my home)the price on the back of the book stated 5.95. You charged me eight times the amount the book was worth. I will not order from you in the future. Please....everyone be aware!!!!!

General Guide,

This review is from: St. Lucia Visitors Guide (Paperback)
This guide has a nice collection of pictures (as compared to The Rough Guide to St Lucia), but feels much more general and outdated. If you don't need pictures, I would go for The Rough Guide! (I am still waiting to receive one more guide for St Lucia). I am heading to the Coconut Bay Resort for my Honeymoon in June.

If these delectable guides' plentiful pix don't get you drooling to explore, you need to get your salivary glands checked. The text is also noteworthy. (...)
