Good selection of pics, poor quality in printing.,

This review is from: St. Petersburg in Focus: Photographers of the Turn of the Century (Hardcover)
Fine selection of pictures, but their printing is so dark here, that much of their detail is lost in black shadows. I know the pictures themselves are excellent in quality, having seen many of them in other texts, so it really is a pity that the publishers of this work did such a poor job in transferring them to paper. The book is not worth your money.

This review is from: St. Petersburg in Focus: Photographers of the Turn of the Century (Hardcover)
If you compare the selection of photos in this book with the other important volume called Before the Revolution. St. Petersburg in Photographs: 1890-1914, you will see that these two books supplement each other. Although the photo prints in the reviewed book are in many cases darker than they are expected to be, they are worth seeing.
It's a great book for those who are nostalgic about and interested in old Russia and St. Petersburg.
