Stands out in a Sea of Lasers,
By Gary Berton "bert-toolnut" (Minneapolis, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
Finally, a good one! Have you noticed that everyone seems to be making lasers? Most of the lasers under $500 aren't worth a crap. But this Stabila Laser is excellent. We all know how great their bubble levels are, but I was extremely impressed with their compact laser. It's self leveling, powerful and accurate. We have used other self leveling compact lasers and it seems that the dot never stops wiggling on a active job site. This Stabila dot stays put, even if you bump it, the recovery is just a second or two. It also has a vertical line feature (indoors only) that we have used a lot. Gives us a very quick set up, plumbing walls. This is a great unit, we just bought our second unit. Good Job Stabila, you continue to build your reputation as the world's best level.

What a great tool. It is truly one of those tools that I took a long look at before I purchased it, and wondered "how much will I use it". Well much to my surprise I find new uses for it constantly. Everything from suspended cielings to trim work, I have even used it hanging wallpaper. Very easy to use and due to the fact that it requires absolutly no setup time, it is used a lot.

The 03100 has proven to be the finest most reliable and easy to use measuring instrument in my tool box. with a little know how and practice you will not have to take the time for traditional methods of plumb, level and square creating faster and better results, therefore increasing productivity on the job site. bottom line less time leveling more time surfing.

Electricians like Stabila too!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
"I am a Master electrician in the Denver metro area and have worked in this field - all in Denver for over 23 years. I have learned from experience that quality tools generally pay for themselves and Stabila levels and lasers are the best I have used thus far. I have many levels of different makes, lengths and models. I will continue to use these less than fully accurate levels when accuracy is not an issue, but when it is, I will turn to my Stabilas. Many of my customers require the best electrical work I can produce which includes level, plumb and all around "clean" looking conduit work. I know that without a doubt, I will be able to get my work done faster, neater and end up with even better work than my customers have come to expect. Thanks to Stabila for making a quality product that I candepend on. Regards, Dana M.E.C. Denver, Colorado."

i really like this tool,
By Erik (Canton, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
In reading reviews of this tool, i kinda figured it was a bunch of guys rationalizing the large amount of money they had blown on one of these Stabila tools, but after using one for a week or so now, i don't see how i got along without it.I find new uses for it every day, and I do believe i will find more as time goes on- hanging doors for instance..is MUCH easier now....i normally use a plumb bob, but the laser sets up QUICK....and no swinging! I find my accuracy...has increased, also!! I only gave this unit 4 stars, because i think it would be MUCH better....with a horizontal level line, but it is very nice..as it is.i highly reccommend it.

Cool tool self leveling is a great feature,
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool has been really useful in leveling things accross wide areas and figuring out elevations. I'm sure it has a thousand uses I'll never know. I have used it for all sorts of stuff you can't put a normal 4' to 8' level on. It's great for fencing or concrete forms. It's small, light and the batteries last forever. The only thing that is a pain is using it in bright sun, but the glasses and reflector plate included work ok for that. I've used non self leveling lasers and I'd never buy one. This thing takes 5 seconds to use, if your leveling a long gate, or a long beam, or a picture, you turn it on, set it someplace fairly flat, point it at one end of your object, make a reference mark, rotate it to point at the next end, mark it, done. The vertical beam it projects is great for setting the first row of floor tiles or anything with an edge that needs to be straight or even plumb on a wall.
Again, the self leveling feature is awesome, you can set the thing on the hood of a truck on a ladder or whatever, and, within reason it levels itself in seconds, if it's too much of an angle the beam blinks until it's within it's range of self leveling.

Can't live without one,
By Robert J Chillino (Fruita, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
Purchased one three months ago, and I don't get to use it. So many people keep borrowing it, so I now own four of them. It is so convient to use we hardly take out the $6,000.00 Topcon laser. The stabila sets up in seconds, is much easier to use and carry around, not to mention price! Installing the tall doors on the jobs (7' to 10') is so much easier than it was before we bought this level. Several other trades have gone out and bought one after using ours. Its like my fax machine, didn't think you need one. Then when you get it you can't live without it!

too big,
This review is from: Stabila 03100 Self-leveling Compact Laser w/Split Beam Prism (Tools & Home Improvement)
I don't own one of these but was planning on buying one with all the good reviews. One thing kept bothering me though. I just couldn't see anywhere that showed the dimensions of this thing. I searched all over and finally found them on a different website. This sucker is listed at 15"x11"x4". Is this a laser or an ENIAC? That just seems like an enormous size for a laser. [...]
Also, it's not clear what the split beam prism does for you. The pictures all show a 360 degree circle around. I guess you can rotate it to any position?. Even the Stabila site didn't have any information on it. Sadly, with so little detailed information available, I'm moving on to another laser. |
