5.0 out of 5 stars The last levels you'll ever need, June 1, 2000
This review is from: Stabila 24632 Jamber Set with 78-Inch and 32-Inch Levels (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was disgusted with my standard mahogany levels. We were nearing the end of a job where we installed a bunch of door jambs with them. Later when they were checked for plumb most of them were off by a 16th or so. Out came the pry bars. I was hot ! Fairly new levels were off by that much . They weren't cheap ones either. I decided on the Stabila line and boy am I glad. These puppies are the best. They are as durable as you could ever want them to be. Even if you drop them they are fine. It's guaranteed by the company. I can confirm their claims . They are as accurate today as the day I first unwrapped them. I always double check for level or plumb by flipping it over. So far so good. I also like the fact that they are so light. It's much easier to hold them in awkward positions. One outstanding feature is the rubber pad sytem on one face of the levels. If you ever use your level to draw lines on a wall you will appreciate the added grip they provide. No more skewed line because you slipped. I highly recommend the Stabila jamber set. They represent an unbeatable value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stabila Jamber Set, July 17, 2000

I have always been one to believe that the best way to set door jambs is the oldest way, a plumb bob, a strait edge, and a two foot level. With the accuracy of Stabila's Jamber Set, I now believe that using these levels can be just as as accurate, faster and easier. The 32 inch level is a big improvement over using a two footer when leveling the head. The 78 inch level fills the leg of the jamb so it is easy to see exactly how straight the leg is while checking for plumb. The two sizes are also very useful for other applications such as cabinetry installations. I have owned other Stabila levels for years and know that they are extremely durable and retain their accuracy. I would highly recomend this set to anyone in the trade. This is a great value and an exellent investment in your professional perfomance.

Fantastic Deal! I own a lot of Stabila Levels and they really are the world's best. These two new levels are just what we needed. Homeowners may not notice a wall that is not plumb, but they sure notice a door that swings open because the door frame is not plumb. This Jamber set is the best! You pay for the 78" and get the 32" free. Such a deal. Thanks Amazon.com for carrying the full line of Stabila, especially this new Jamber Set. Oh, did I mention the lifetime accuracy guarantee? These guys really stand behind their levels. As long as you don't bend it, it is covered for life, really, I've done it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Not Have The Best, September 18, 2002
This review is from: Stabila 24632 Jamber Set with 78-Inch and 32-Inch Levels (Tools & Home Improvement)
If you set alot of steel frame doors, or pre hungs, you will love this level set.I know you cant always set pre-hungs level if you're following a wall reveal. But if you have to set steel frames for masonry or metal framing, you can throw away your plumb bob, [spend the extra money for the magnetics if you do alot of metal]. These are faster and just as accurate as a palm laser at half the cost! No I dont work here.

I won't repeat the praise of others here: it's true that a level that doesn't lose its calibration is wonderful. But I do object to the removable end caps (shock absorbers?) -- they come off in case you want a square corner at the end of the level, but they also come off by themselves, when I find my missing one I'll cement it on. Also, I find the slick handhold-free metal body difficult to grip in certain positions, and the vial you need to see never seems close at hand.

These are the trade-offs for the sturdiness and accuracy (which may be in part due to the gentler handling a level that costs this much will usually get ... no more using my level as a hammer in a pinch ... just kidding!).

I have had these since 2002 and still use them even though I also have lasers. It was real handy laying hardwood floors this year. They are really well made instruments. The 78" is huge but when you need it there is nothing like it. Great for leveling concrete. Stabila makes one of the best instruments out there.

i've had stabila levels for many years and they have never failed me, while all other brands, owned by coworkers etc., have their inherent problems. As with most anything, if you buy the cheaper product, you end up wasting money. guaranteed quality...

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing Something, November 30, 2002

A great setup, except the set needs to come with a 30" level instead of a 32". The most common dorr size in a house is a 2-6 or 30". a 24" level is just too short and a 32" is just a hair long with the caps removed. These levels are top of the line. A must for all finish carpenters.
