This is one of those specilaized tools that many guys say "I don't need it" or "It's not worth the price". These are the guys that typically are the low ballers, who don't get referrals or repeat work. Over the years I've found that any tool that increases accuracy or makes my work better is well worth the cost. Sure you can use a plumb bob or 48" level to put up walls, but this tool makes the job easier and is more accurate which results in a better job. I also use it to level long spans of horizontal elements like cabinets & flooring. Being obsesed with digital accuracy, I use this level in conjunction with my Stabila TECH levels by clamping them together. I haven't experienced any deflection problems with this product and despite it's size, but even though it is very well made and ridgid, you can't put too much pressure on it while it's fully extended or it will bend. I prefer it over the other products on the market that use several telescoping sections to reduce the closed length. I feel that the more sections you have, the greater chance for deflection. Overall it's a very well made product consistant with Stabila quality and well worth the price.

I am a builder by profession, I frame and trim and do just about everything that has to do wood and building. Stabila's plate levels make it easy to plumb walls leaving no questions that your walls are plumb the first time. Going from plate to plate is the only way to plumb walls correctly. There are many different uses for these levels, they make finishing basements a breeze because they adjust to whatever height the ceiling is. This level is too long to use to set doors but the 6-10ft can be used to set doors if you do not have a jam level. The adjustability of these levels makes their usefullness infinite. Well constructed and if taken care of will last a lifetime. The magnets are very strong and the only thing I would change on it and all of stabila's levels is that the bubble is too small and does not fill up the lines like a crick or smith.

I purchased this level for a few projects of my own including finishing a basement. I used to use the good old plumb bob to get walls straight and true and even with experience it would still take much too long. This level eliminates the need for the good old bob and helps you get walls straight and true in a matter of a minutes. I also like the solid feel and construction of Stabila levels. They really are very well built and this level even at its length is no exception. Lastly, it would be nice if a level of this price came with a bag but I will not let that detract from the product itself. Just be aware you might want to pick up a bag or case to store and transport your level. Otherwise, this is a solid piece of equipment that's a must for anyone framing anything!

I'm in construction for work, I don't know how we got along without this level. Well worth the money, made very well. Buy a case to protect your investment.
