I'm a big fan of Stabila and own at least a dozen of their levels. Since my 1st purchase of a TECH level a year or so ago, I've become obsessed with digital accuracy. I've noticed an improvement in overall job quality since switching to digital levels. You'd be surprised in the difference between what you think is level with a spirit level compared to using a digital. This little 14" level is great to keep in your tool bag. Yes they are expensive, but I feel that the increased accuracy and resulting improvement in quality is worth the price. They do save time as well and the audible tones come in handy when you can't see the level. Hopefully Stabila will come out with a 6 or 10" digital torpedo. Stabila quality is the best in my opinion and this one is no different.

This is an excellent product that allows a technical professional to provide graphic and positive proof of angle, rise and fall to a layman.

$160 for a level is quite a luxury, but once you try one, you will never want to use the bubbles again. It wasn't easy to pull the trigger on this purchase, but I'm glad I did. Soon after I received it, I used it to build several frames as well as to install several new-construction windows. This level enabled me to complete the task in a much shorter time, and with way more accuracy. As other reviewers have noted of Stabila digital levels, the build quality is excellent. They lock onto a reading quickly, and repeatability is excellent. This unit is solid, full featured, and has no faults.

This unit is apparently easy to calibrate, although with something this discerning in its accuracy, your reference for zero-degree would need to be dead on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another "ACE" in the deck, January 6, 2007

Our experience with Stabilia's 1st generation of the 48" electronic level took us to new levels with the "Tech" series from Stabilia, both the 48" and 24" flavors.

Every single customer we have performed work for has been amazed with the world class quality and finished product after applying these levels in the field. Most other contractors still have no clue these are available and that amazes me!

The addition of the top read out solves the problem of seeing your work straight on. And the thicker wall construction gives it a stronger frame to avoid bending. All other attributes of the level seem to be the same as its 1st generation brother.

We never like to drop these levels at any time but every carpenter knows that from time to time the dropping of a level will happen. The first time it hit the deck I had a sick feeling in my stomach. On the second drop, over 8 feet I yelled out some obscene words! But the unit was just as accurate as the day we put it on the job.

Now after over a dozen drops the level is still working and has never been re-calibrated! That's Tough!! If your tired of guessing weather or not your current "vial" levels are up to the job, then just give them to your other contractor buddies and pick up a few of these!

The best "ACE" in your deck you can add!

I work as a very high end carpenter where 1/32" tolerances are the norm. Clients measure spacing of towel warmer borders in millimeters. There is always a certain bit of "play" in every level. Is the bubble gap dead equal? The electronic readout of this level makes the bubble a relic. Seeing the angle measurement in the hundredths is all the reassurance I need. Next up for me, the 78"... I love this level.
