Somewhat disappointing and difficult to play. Horse racing games are few and far between, and even fewer of them seem to focus on what I find fascinating...the selection, raising, management, training and breeding of the horses and the understanding and development of good bloodlines for racing in the fictitious world of the game. You don't even get to have the fun of naming your own horses in this game. The races and betting are fun, but you seem to have little power over what kind of horses you end up with. There is no mention of bloodlines or anything, and the only horses you can buy are ones that have been racing or are about to be raced and inexplicably are put up for sale by other "owners". The horses you start with in the game are awful (can't even win a maiden race to save their lives), and the decent ones for sale are far too expensive to afford, and even the cheap ones are selling for far more than it seems they are likely to ever win. Realistic, I guess, but not very satisfying, as there seems to be no way to raise money except by betting....which is somewhat random, obviously. The game does not have a tutorial, and there is no manual in the box. The manual that is available as an adobe file is very limited and gives no details on the mechanics of playing the game. I found instructions on line that were better. It would be nice if the selection, raising and breeding aspect were part of the game. Worst of all, the training buttons don't seem to work the way they're supposed to and I can't get the downloaded patch that is supposed to fix this bug to execute. I keep getting a message that some graphics file is an "unknown version" so the patch can't run. I tried reinstalling the game, as suggested on ESP software's website, but to no avail.

Stable masters 2.If you expect to win right from word go you'll be sorely disappointed. you have to make sure you have horses in right races, some as they mature change, watch out too, some hate being top weighted in the race. you also have to change the training, to suit the race, or 'need' of the horse to improve when its ratings have increased. you get normally poor to average qual horses to start with mostly, once I had very good one. but I have only lost totally one game, my very first attempt, cause we had to down load a patch to fix the training saves. since then have played 5 new games and won many of the big prizes, over the years (as in game years) have won over 30 million! twice. normally i begin again, as it gets boring just adding to the pile, cause you can't increase the stable size past 40. normally a stable almost full, so have a at least space to buy in a worthy animal. you do not need a stable full of Dubai winners. or you have very few races you can enter. but then 1 horse winning one after another isn't impossible, I have had a number with 5-7 wins in a row before. of course just as in real life some horses like straight tracks or as is possible, or wider bend, others do well over tight bends courses, some only do well on sand tracks. so best to make notes on each horse age, name, race length it prefers, if it wins a race, make a note of the course, conditions and race type. if its often placed at another course, might be worth giving it a race if its got a month or 2 to wait for another of its best at track, 2nd or 3rd is better than wasting your money on a track it doesn't do well at. then write down what the jockey says and read up what happened to it in the race, it can help you with tweaking the training so it speeds up or managed to hang on and not fade over the final 1/10 of the race. if you like a challenge, got patience and don't expect to do well right from word go all the time. only downfalls of the game really are: you can't breed your own and train them to be winners, one track listed is not in the game! and saddly you can't pick your jockey colours, limited number of horses, when you get to 30 million, be nice to have up to 100 stabled! and if you prefer top graphics, ie more like real life, these are not, but alot better than another horse racing game we have were the horses run through and down the middle of the hedge!! but to me and my hubby (I always beat him too (your talking to someone that played soldier of fortune and completed it in a week!!) Stable masters 2 is a great game and if you like manager games, that use brain power and forward planning, mapping etc.., rather than just action/shoot 'em up, instant action thought, then its worth a go. if not and your the fast action type, don't buy.

This was an extremely difficult game to play and I gave up on it after 3 tries. It is practically impossible to win a race, you do not get to name (or even PICK) your horses. You start out with 5 horses and it is nearly impossible to get a horse with good stats. If you put your horse on a training schedule to focus on stamina, it does nothing, even after 25 days of straight training. I was extremely dissappointed with this game. The layout of the page is confusing and crowded, plus the racing graphics absolutely SUCK. It's true! I would NOT reccommend this game to ANYONE, note even the most experienced horseracing sim player.
