Awesome book!,

This review is from: Stacey's Mistake (The Baby-Sitters Club, 18) (Paperback)
First when I read this I though that I hate this. But when I read this second time I loved this book. That's why you have to read it twice too!Only thing I don't like in this book is the fight baby-sitters are having... and Stacey! I hate Stacey in this book. She is all the time like "This is so embarrasing... This is so embarrasing... I wish I could be dead... Please, stop!" Why doesn't she understand that her friends are excited by the city like New York. And I though that it was funny when Mary Anne was almost arrested. Why wouldn't Stacey laught about it too? I'll rate this with 4 stars!

New York, New York !,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Stacey's Mistake (The Baby-Sitters Club, 18) (Paperback)
This book is all about Stacey, when she invites Claudia, Kristy, Dawn, and Mary Anne to New York, for two days because its a great way for Stacey to see all her friends again and her parents are trying to find away to help the homeless people around their neighbourhood with the help of the people living in the apartment. But at New York, Dawn is terrified of everything, MaryAnne is bugging everyone with her knowledge of NewYork and Kristy is being a pest, and Stacey is so embarrased. Can the Babysitter solve their problems and get through the two days? This book was really funny and easy to read and is one of my favourites from the Babysitters Club. A MUST READ!!!

My 11 year old loves all of these books. She read this one in a day and was eager for more.

Stacey is excited to have her friends visit her in New York City. Basically they act line n00bs since they haven't been to New York, and Stacey's New York friends look down at them, so Stacey has to decide what is important about her friendships. A very good look at friendships and relationships.

Nice but unrealistic,

I have a hard time believing that the BSC's parents would let a bunch of 13 year olds walk around like this. I mean, quiet Stoneybrook is one thing, but NYC is a HUGE city and it doesn't seem safe to me and I feel like in a group of 7, at least one parent or set of parents would object.

The BSC goes to New York for a weekend!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Stacey's Mistake (The Baby-Sitters Club, 18) (Paperback)
I loved this book!!! It's so fun that the rest of the BSC who live in Connecticut get to come visit Stacey in NYC and go sightseeing, have a party with Stacey's New York friends, and have a baby-sitting adventure! It's written well too.
So anyway... they start off by sightseeing. Stacey is my favorite member of the BSC, but at first in this book, she's kind of bratty. She thinks everything her friends do are SO embarrassing, which makes her seem kind of insecure. I mean, if she was really confident she wouldn't be embarrassed when her friend says "you sound so grown-up!" But I LUV this book. It's a lot of fun! My favorite parts are: when they go to Bloomingdale's, when they go to the Hard Rock Cafe, and when they go to Central Park!!! The whole weekend sounds great, and it's realistic, too. I love the BSC books about New York, but this is the best one -- better than New York, New York! the super special. Definitely read it you'll LOVE it!!!!!

I followed this series religiously 20 some years ago in 5th-8th grade and Stacey was my fave character and my altar ego. I was so happy that Mrs. Martin chose to keep Stacey in the picture despite her departure to NY. The series would not be the same without her. This series is realistic fiction yet some do gripe that the characters seem to have perfect lives. As a teenager I wanted a perfect life, body, and boyfriend but was confused after reading the books that my life didn't seem as fortunate as the BSC. It was even hard getting Baby-sitting jobs! Yet I still wouldn't change anything about these books, I would want my daughter(s) reading them over Goosebumps or any junk. The BSC is sweet, beautiful and innocent. There is no sex or drugs in the books because basically, at that age, children are not mature enough to deal with those issues. The BSC members don't truly have perfect lives; there is divorce, peer rejection, illnesses, deaths, etc to deal with. But these books are a great escape from your troubles. Way to go, Mrs. Martin!!

Stacey's so excied! She's invited the BSC members to New York City for a long a weekend. But there are things that Stacey did not expect. Dawn acts like a guidebook. But what a mistake!
The Baby Sitters are way out of place in the big city. Does this mean Stacey can't be the Baby sitters' friend anymore?

This was a really good book! It was a really interesting plot because when Stacey's friends from Stoneybrook meet Laine Cummings, Stacey's long-time best friend, everyone was really acting silly. Claudia was the most spoiled. She got in a fight with Laine, and when Kristy found a boy she really liked, Claudia stole him away from her! (Stacey was having a party and invited all her friends from Stoneybrook and New York to come). This was a really good book, and everyone should read it!

I wasn't crazy about this book. I think Martin was stretching it for "issues" the baby-sitters would have with the city, especially when she had Dawn terrified of everything. Please. Dawn supposedly lived near Disneyland in Anaheim or thereabouts; she'd be almost as comfortable in New York as she would in LA. Stacey's attitude bugged me in this book, which is too bad because she's usually my favorite. Still. Some parts are very, very funny.
