Amazing! Neat technique! Beautiful projects! Buy it!!!!,

This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
This is the first "stack n whack" book that I've purchased. I bought it because of the butterfly quilt pattern, but there are many other projects that will catch your eye and send you running to the fabric store! The basic principle of this technique is to utilize the repetition of patterns within fabric in a consistent way to create "kaleidoscopic" effects in your quilt design. It does take a little careful reading to understand the technique, and how the "dynamics" of the fabric will matter to the design, but the book has very good directions, and great photos. All in all there are 12 designs which demonstrate 3 different techniques: The variability in the appearance that can be achieved through the use of one fabric and this technique is amazing. I can't wait to start my first project!

Not for beginners,

This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
The projects in this book are very well documented as tohow to pick out fabric and how to cut it to get the dramatic effects for these projects. Very clear directions with lots of pictures to guide you in assembly. You must have a basic quilting knowledge and be willing to put in the extra time to turn out these quality projects. A beautiful book for someone who wants beautiful projects that are a little more challenging.

Another Wonderful Book,

This book continues with Bethany's wonderful methods of transforming fabric into great kaleidoscopic blocks. The directions are extremely well written for use, even by people who have never done Stack&Whack quilt blocks before. I love the new shapes that Bethany is using, since I can use smaller amounts of my fabrics with some of the easier shapes. I'll be amazing my friends soon with some more wonderful quilts from these patterns!!

Some interesting variations on Stack N' Whack,
By Antique Quilt Lover (Lancaster County, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
If you are just getting into Stack and Whack, get Bethany's first book. If you really love it and want more ideas, this book will inspire you. It's such fun to see what Bethany makes using today's large scale prints - she deserves a quilter's hall of fame award for inspiring many to play with prints! The mirror-image variations in this book are interesting, but I've had a hard time finding fabrics that are appropriate for them (the color saturation on the back needs to be almost as rich as the front for these to be effective since you are using both sides).

Whackier than Ever,

This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
This is the book I asked for for my birthday. I could hardly wait, and was on the list before it even came out. And I wasn't disappointed!!!! This is the best ever. How Bethany can come up with even more designs is pure brilliance on her part. And all we can do is have the luxury of following her very clear instructions to make our own! For someone like me, who is a visual learner, her books are the few that make sense. Each instruction is concise and picture perfect. I can't wait to try all these new techniques to add to the others!!!Thanks again, Bethany Reynolds. Way to go.....

Neat new ideas,

I recently read the new book Stack and Whackier and really liked it. The designs are fresh and new and I made the cover quilt easily and fast from the directions in the book. I used an oriental print for the box tops and it is stunning. I also perused the rest of the designs as I was looking for a class to teach. The designs are quite varied and most wouldn't be classed as Stack and Whack upon first glance. I especially liked the classification of the designs as Easy, Intermediate or Advanced although I made the cover quilt which was classified as Intermediate but which I thought wasn't hard at all. Anyone with some knowledge of quilting techniques should have no trouble with that one. A must for the library of anyone who likes the Stack and Whack technique.

Great book!,

This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
I decided to tackle a stack-n-whack for my second quilt and loved this book! The beginning couple of pages did a great job of explaining the basic process. I found that cutting out the pieces was the hardest part and once that was done, the blocks went together so quickly. I can't wait to make the same quilt again in different fabrics and compare the two results! The illusions in this book are also so amazing that it makes my quilts seem so much more professional because the design appears so complicated to a novice quilter!

Stack-n-Whackier Quilts,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book) (Paperback)
As an experienced quilter, I look for challenges and interesting attacks to different quilting techniques. This book is written clearly enough for an advanced beginner but provides enought challenge for an advanced quilter. Well done, interesting, and fun.
