5.0 out of 5 stars no problems at all
This is an execellent book but you should know that it is 1 book in a very large series. First you should read these books in this order so that you can know all the characters & their history... Dirty Little Secrets, Hooker to Housewife, Superstar, Bitch, Bitch Reloaded (2), The Bitch is Back (3), Queen Bitch (4), Last Bitch Standing (5), Stacking Paper 1, Stacking Paper...

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Got my mind on my money and my money on my mind...', July 7, 2008
This review is from: Stackin' Paper (Paperback)
Genesis Taylor murdered his abusive father defending his pregnant mother. He became a statistic while serving seven years at a juvenile facility in Pemberton, New Jersey. Betrayed by his mother and left for dead, young Genesis' heart is hardened and he pledges to focus only on `getting that paper.'

Undeterred by life's hellacious blows, Genesis gains a major break in the game by robbing two stick up kids. Genesis' best friend, Deuce, joins him in his quest to dominate the drug scene. A beneficial bond is formed when Genesis meets twins, Coco and Chanel, who have major clout due to their deceased father's legacy. Genesis' only has one use for women, he never allows any attachments to distract him from his original game plan. Attending a party with the twins, Genesis is spellbound by a mysterious and enchanting female, only to find that she's the companion of Arnez, a very powerful and cruel man . After spending a peaceful, yet innocent night holding Talisa in his arms, Genesis reluctantly backs off due to a serious warning from Coco. Or does he?

Deja's amazing literary skills are executed above and beyond in this captivating read as she lures you in with the sexy and thuggish Genesis. You're riveted to his story from the emotional beginning of the first page to the tumultuous last page which leaves you breathless, heartsick, and fiending for just a little more. She pens a myriad of issues beginning with abuse, murder, betrayal, romance, drug dealing, sex, obsession, and did I mention she managed to develop a love story in the midst of the mayhem... I've been a Deja fan since my introduction to Precious and Tyler. In following her literary accomplishments, the growth is evident and commendable, her storylines are fascinating, her characters are viciously mesmerizing as well as exciting, and her style is exemplary to say the least! I claim another best seller with this one!!! Genesis' introduction into the literary field is impressive and he is mos def `that dude.' Magnificente Deja!! Keep shining lil mama!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars STACKIN' that PAPER, June 25, 2008
This review is from: Stackin' Paper (Paperback)
Genesis is all about stackin his paper. After getting out of prison he comes up on some money and from there the money starts stackin'. From the very first page this book will have you drawn in, I don't like giving the story away in doing reviews, besides there is already a synopsis.....this was a fast read, and you will be guessing til' the very end how this is gonna play out. There's drama, revenge, murder not all in that order but the makings for a good read, then again anytime you see Joy King's name on a book you know it has got to be good. Her teaming up with author JoJo just makes it twice as good.

The young life of a boy named Genesis Taylor is changed forever when he shot and killed his father in an attempt to save his pregnant mother's life. While serving time in a juvenile detention center for what was really self defense, his life is shattered once again when his seemingly ungrateful mother turns around and abandons him for what she thinks is a better life, severing all ties. Released at the age of eighteen Genesis is criminal minded and has plans to make large amounts of cash by selling drugs. Finally reaching some sort of success Genesis' operation is shut down by a mob of thieves. Intent on getting back the product and cash that was taken from him Genesis accidentally hits the drug lottery. He instantly skyrockets to the top of the drug game and before he knows it, he is out of product and meeting up with a new drug connect which surprisingly happens to be sexy twin sisters, CoCo and Chanel. Visiting the twins on business, Genesis runs into a beautiful woman named Talisa twice in two days. Not believing in coincidences he decides to make her his own. This is where the fun, and the real problems begin.

CoCo and Chanel are in a league of their own, thanks to their deceased father's clout. CoCo runs the show like a pro, and Chanel does the same with the heavy artillery. Besides looking exactly the same and dressing similarly, I'd say the twins are not much alike. CoCo is by far more talkative and seems more liked by the public, whereas Chanel is quiet and mysterious, but not in a good way. The twins are good friends with a influential man named Arnez, who just happens to be dating Genesis' love interest, Talisa. CoCo warns Genesis that Arnez is a man not to be messed with. Not only to protect her business investments with him but also because she eventually has a thing for him.

This fast paced novel seemed predictable at first, but as I kept reading it became apparent that predictable was furthest from the truth. With every twist and secret unfolded, readers are sure to fall in love with humble and business savvy Genesis, be curious about CoCo and Chanel, and want Talisa to finally leave controlling abusive Arnez.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joy King has delivered another good Read, June 23, 2010

Genesis grew up watching his father beat his mother until she literally turned black and blue. The beatings went on for so long until one day Genesis stood up to his abusive father resulting in him killing his father.Genesis was sent to juvenile for what was suppose to be two years but turned into seven long years. While in prison his mother left to start a better life for him and his sister so she said, but he never heard from her again. When Genesis is released he tries to go down the right path, but certain situations didn't allow that to happen. Stackin Papers tells the story of Genesis trying to make a good life for himself while finding love along the way. There are so many great things to say about Stackin Papers that I don't know where to start. From the beginning to end I could not put this book down, I read it in less then two days. I love when I can pick up a book and be able to visualize the story while I'm reading along. I didn't find one grammer error in the entire book, that's a big plus for me. Stackin Papers is a very good read;Ms. King did her thing once again.

4.0 out of 5 stars She does it again, April 7, 2009
This review is from: Stackin' Paper (Paperback)
Genesis is a man who has to grow up fast. After killing his father for the endless abuse he subjected him and his pregnant mother to, Genesis is sent to Juvenile. After being abandoned by the very person that he protected Genesis is released and takes to the streets with a vengence. With Genesis it is all about "stackin paper". In comes Talisia a girl that takes his breathe away. Talisia is reserved and Genesis is determined to find out why. Just when they find love all hell breaks loose.

Joy King does it again this book is original and you fall in love with the characters

5.0 out of 5 stars Joy King is Queen, July 7, 2008

This review is from: Stackin' Paper (Paperback)
I love Joy King and she hasn't disappointed me yet (except for when she writes under Deja King.). Of course there is going to be a part two. I must admit I am getting a little tired of Sequel's, Pre-quels and Triliogy's. It's so common place now, it's like to read a book you must be willing to sign on to the character's as if it was a soap opera or movie of the week with one cliff hanger after another.

That aside, I can't want for the part two to this book. I want to know whatever happened to his mother and sister. What is going to happen to the twin sisters? Will Talisa be the love of his life, or will Coco be the one?

4.0 out of 5 stars If It Don't Make Money, It Don't Make Sense, July 20, 2008
This review is from: Stackin' Paper (Paperback)
Genesis is a moderately successful hustler on the come-up. What could have been a huge setback quickly skyrockets him into the big leagues. He's stackin' paper like never before. He's got his mind on his money and his money on his mind until...he sees HER!

Talisa is a bad mutha....shut yo' mouth! Sexy, beautiful and intelligent, she's in a class by herself.

The chemistry is evident. But with Talisa comes baggage - deadly baggage. Undeterred, is Genesis ready for the consequences of his actions?

Joy King mixes a little street, love, jealousy and hate to create an entertaining novel. The plots and subplots are strong, slightly predictable but still very much enjoyable. I also enjoyed Joy's venturing out and speaking from the male perspective. I recommend STACKIN' PAPER and look forward to part II.
