Like everyone else today, I don't have enough time to take care of the basics much else plan a creative, delicious meal - Deborah's book has solved that problem. There are recipes for fancy dinners as well as recipes for Wednesday night leftovers. Plus, she gives lots of instruction, encouragement and suggestions for creating your own "stacks." I LOVE this book!!!

I saw Deborah on the Donny and Marie show and decided to order her book..I got the book and the Stack heart shaped molds and I even amazed myself!I am newly inspired...and her recipes are truly delicious--I made the chocolate bread pudding stacks...it was fun and now my relatives are asking me to make Stacks for all of our family get togethers. I especially like the matrix with the list of all of the possible combinations...I feel like a kid in a candy shop-I actually stayed up till midnight experimenting with different possibilities. I haven't had this much fun in the kitchen in a long time.

One of my friends told me about this book, Stacks. What a find! It's such a creative way to do any kind of food - I've even made some stacks with leftovers! But the most fun is at a dinner party when you incorporate it into the meal, especially as a dessert - people go wild! Thanks to Deborah for such an innovative book. Does she have any more books on cooking?

When I first saw a picture of a "stack", I was drawn to it immediately. I had to buy the kit and soon realized I needed more ideas, so I bought the cookbook. If you are a "foodie" who likes to experiment and make more than meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner guests, this is a great tool. The ingredients are fresh (and the author offers alternatives if you are just too busy to make your own pesto!), colorful and flavorful. This book is a great value, as well. You can use the recipes as a guide to being creative. Enjoy

"Stacks" takes the monotony out of daily meal preparation. It is a fun, easy way to make beautiful food. With this book I was able to make up recipes for the first time in my life. I open the refrigerator and see possiblities that were not there before. Thank you Debra.

I love this book! I made two of the recipes...they were extraordinary...delicious and visually stunning. I put Martha Stewart to shame! My guests were amazed. I can't wait to try all of the recipes. The book is much better than I imagined. THe best new cookbook I have tried...in years! Thanks Deborah. When is the next book coming?

Learn How to Serve Up EyeAppealing Dishes,

This cookbook delivers the home chef who want to spice up the appearance of food with this new vertical style.Fabricant has done all the trial work for us and now gives recipes for each entree plus has available from her web site and others all the necessary "stacks" etc., you'll need. This is also supplamanted in most cases with great color photogrpahy that show the recipe served, which is so helpful in this case. I've not tried all, but several main dishes and desserts and my guests and I found them so appealing visually, but the portions were large and the food rich. So, who can complain! Unique and wonderful for us fledgling gourmets!

Vertical Art,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stacks: The Art of Vertical Food (Paperback)
First of all, in the forward, the author tells us that she is not a professional chef or had professional training and encourages you that if she can do it you can too...however, on the back cover of the book at the bottom we find that she has some kind of degree in food preparation as well as her own culinary school and a few other credentials in the culinary world. She is obviously no beginner and she has certainly been exposed to food preparation and presentation - so I forewarn you now that this book is not for the novice! Some of the recipes are long and complicated and most of them require gourmet ingredients that not only would I not know where to buy them, I don't even know what they are let alone have them stocked in my kitchen on any given day! The author just assumes that everyone is going to to know what all these exotic items are. That is my biggest complaint with this book, the fact that I can't just open a page and "give it a go" because there are ingredients I have never heard of. Also, these are definitley not "family friendly" recipes due to the exotic flair - they are definitely meant for the adult dinner party, etc. My second complaint is the lack of pictures. The whole premise behind this book is how impressive and unique these stacks are, but there are only pictures every few pages. I want to SEE how each one looks not just read about how to do it. This book just drops the ball in that category. To be fair though and not completely bash this book, she does provide detailed information how to make or purchase the equipment to prepare the stacks along with a nice long list of different foods in many diffrent categories to mix and match and make your own. Some of the recipes do sound really good and they are pretty cool looking (from the few pictures they provide anyway!), but as I stated above, most of them are rather exotic.

I was underwhelmed to say the least. I flipped through this book in minutes and was totally disappointed. If you want a book with GREAT recipes and beautifully "stacked" plates, get the Top Chef cookbook or the Top Chef quick fire cookbook, they blow this one away!
