Not Staedtler brand as described. Bait and switch?
on November 7, 2012
Given my background in drafting and engineering, and as a former art student, I associate the Staedler brand with quality art products. I ordered a Staedtler 9702024H T-Square, but received an Art Alternatives AA27113 T-Square. While I'm certain the Art Alternatives product will serve the purpose, it's not what I ordered. To me, this is nothing short of an unlawful bait and switch, and until the seller takes action to satisfactorily resolve this issue, that's how I intend to treat it. In the meantime, I'm leaving this less than positive review to inform others of my experience with this seller and its product. Buyer beware!
UPDATE: Several weeks has passed and the seller hasn't made any attempt to communicate with me, so I purchased a Staedtler T-Square from another retailer, and returned the Art Alternatives for a refund. The differences in the two T-squares is subtle, but the Staedtler uses brass screws and the maple wood is of better quality, being a lot less plastic-like than the Art Alternatives T-Square. Since the product reviews show that I'm not the only person to have received a brand of T-Square other than the Staedtler brand, it's obvious this wasn't a mistake, so I contacted Staedtler's Int'l HQ in Nuernberg, who put me in touch with their North American office in Toronto, and informed them of the matter, They were very interested to know how their brand was being unlawfully used, and would reach out to amazon directly. They also sent me a variety of Staedtler products free of charge, which I thought was very kind of them. If you order a Staedtler T-Square and receive something other than that, please report it to Steve Carney at SteveCarney@staedtler.ca
