On Stage in the Classroom provides ideas to stimulate children's imagination, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Includes five concise chapters on classroom theory and practice for performing arts, as well as a resource bank of imaginative problems.
This text serves as the primary text for Performing Arts Workshop (P.A.W), one of the oldest nonprofit arts education organizations in San Francisco. P.A.W. was established in 1965 to provide a creative outlet for inner-city teenagers. Using schools and community centers as her laboratory, dancer Gloria Unti developed a teaching method based on the belief that the creative process is a dynamic vehicle for learning, problem-solving, and communication.
