This review is from: The Stage Coach (Lucky Luke) (Paperback)
Written by the author of Asterix, The Stagecoach is the best book in the Lucky Luke series, and as good as the best Asterix books in its tight writing and witty, unexpected humor. The Old West setting works particularly well for the freelance hero here, and the story is compelling and believable. (More so than some others in the series, which sometimes have Saturday morning cartoon violence.)
This book translates well from the French - better perhaps than Asterix (or Tintin). The 1976 translation is excellent, while in the 1995 version the translator is not so adept or fluid, and unnecessarily alters some words. A new edition will be released in 2011. |
