Mostly satisfied; will use for two-keyboard gigs on small stages,
This review is from: On Stage KSA7500 Second Tier for Keyboard Stands (Electronics)
I have been using the On-Stage Platform Stand for my heavy digital piano (Yamaha P120, 88 keys), and I recently bought the KSA7500 second tier attachment to support an additional light-weight board (Nord Electro 2, 61 keys). I have now used the second tier attachment at a rehearsal and at a gig in a small bar where I needed to minimize my footprint. I am overall mostly satisfied and will continue using the upper tier when needed.PROS: Compact, lightweight, fairly easy to attach, strong enough to support a light board, ability to adjust the tilt angle somewhat. Works with my existing platform stand. Allows two boards in same footprint as one. Able to comfortably play one board seated and the other standing. CONS: Height above bottom board is not adjustable. There is just enough clearance to see and reach the buttons on the bottom board; if the bottom board had an LCD display I don't think I could see it. The tilt angle left and right is adjusted separately and you have to make sure you set both arms to the same angle in the toothed wheels. Only the minimum tilt (one notch below flat) yields a comfortable playing position. The flat position offers no barrier against pushing the keyboard backward off the tier. The spacing between the arms is defined by the slots in the bottom stand and might not be enough for a longer board on top. When not attached to anything (i.e., during transport) the stand is "floppy" in the sense that the arms can rotate independently.

I have this for a light (12lb) keyboard and it works just fine. I've used it for one that weighs around 20lbs and I think that is as heavy as I'd go. Realize that it may be hard to view the keyboard below if there are a lot of controls on it, but that's going to probably be the case with any stand that is this style.

keyplayer,

The add on stand works well seems to be of excellent quality and adjusts to several angles very well. There is no vertical adjustment. I found the distance between keyboards a little too far so I ended up drilling new holes at a lower point and remounting the unit the horizontal bars connect to. If I did it again I would anny up more cash for a complete two tier unit.

I purchased this to go with the KS7350 stand and found out it doesn't fit the stand. Returned it to Amazon with no hassles.

A good add-on option for an existing x-frame stand,
This review is from: On Stage KSA7500 Second Tier for Keyboard Stands (Electronics)
This works pretty well as a quick way to add on a second tier to your existing x-frame keyboard stand. It is designed for either square or round stands, which is nice. Instructions are a bit sparse...it's relatively self-explanatory, but you do need to keep a couple basics in mind when installing it, i.e. orientation, tightness, etc.Once installed it is very sturdy and stable on a double-braced x-frame stand. The tier is pretty deep, so you'll need a deep keyboard on the lower level otherwise it's eclipsed by your upper keyboard. Fairly fine adjustment of angle, but it seems to miss a couple "sweet spot" angles that people are probably looking for. All in all, I would say it's a good option for the price to quickly and easily expand your existing stand. For the finer and fussier points, you'll probably want to investigate a new 2-tier stand. I would actually say somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars.

Overall, I am very happy with this product. It has been very solid and I have no fear that my keyboard will fall off.If I had any complaint, I wish that I could adjust the height. By the time I get the angle of the upper keyboard to where it feels good, the stand is just a bit too short. It makes it difficult to see any controls on the lower keyboard. Other than that, I really like it.

I just added another keyboard to my setup and needed a second tier to a keyboard stand. I looked at some dedicated two tier stands and they did seem kind of pricey. The On Stage KSA7500 seemed to fit the bill for my needs, although I was worried there would be some sort of incompatibility issues with my existing universal stand. No worries there - there's enough adjustments on this thing to fit lots of situations. The two prongs themselves shove into the stand's back tubes and you then crank the knob and it opens up and grips the inside. I would imagine this would work with almost any hollow tube stand even square ones. It just all fit together so easily and looks like it was always part of the stand. The upper holders can be adjusted to change the incline of your upper keyboard (using a tooth based system that's solid as a rock) and the two arms are bolstered by an adjustable cross bar.The only negative is there's no back height adjustment available - but given that you can rotate the position of the keyboard it's not needed or at least it wasn't in my case. Overall I saved a hundred bucks by adding this to my existing stand and I'm very happy with the sturdy, good-looks of the result. |
