Customer Reviews

Solid feel, good construction.

Set/thumb screws for the main boom arm and the telescope arm do not stay tight with finger tightening (which is necessary to adjust on the fly).

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package.

Five stars for solid construction and for meeting my every need. Note that the specifications on this page are in error. The claim is the boom is adjustable from 19" to 32". The boom is fixed at 30" and does not telescope - it slides along the top sleeve, controlled by a tightening knob. I do not see that as a problem because this design does allow you to extend or retract the book to place it where you need it (within range of the overall length.)

Some features I like include precision machined threads that easily mate with other devices such as an On Stage KSA7575 Universal Keyboard Stand Microphone Attachment Bar (which I use), or, in some cases, a fixed stand such as a Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand Black. At the business end of mine I attached an On Stage MY250 Shure Type Microphone Clip, which mates perfectly. The threads are precision cut on both items.

The small counter weight on the arm is a nice touch too. I use relatively heavy mics, and the counterweight, as well as the lever that allows you to adjust the boom angle, keep your settings rock solid.

I have included two customer-supplied images at the top of this page to show how I have mine set up. If you are seeking some flexibility in microphone stands, having a few of these on hand will give you that flexibility. If you are using a keyboard stand attachment bar, then this boom is essential. Aside from the erroneous specifications, I have found my boom to be perfect and completely meets my needs. Do some measuring before ordering.

Very helpful tool for my home studio. This connects my mic stand to my Peavey mic. I keep the stand actually in the corner behind my desk and use the telescoping boom to put the mic where I can use it. Solid feel, good construction. Recommend it for home studio use. While it's solid it's not very rugged, so I'm not sure how it would hold up to music gigs. Home studio applications are well benefited though.

This is not the MSA7020TB which extends to 48 inches. This boom only extends to 32 inches. The one I got also had a bad clutch and wouldn't tighten enough to hold the boom at full extension.

I've had this boom for a couple of months of gigging now and have lowered my rating. The counterweight on the arm fell off in the middle of a gig clanking loudly on the mic base, when I went to put it back on discovered that it is not threaded nor does it have a set screw... had to wait for a break so I could shim it with some paper, we'll see if it lasts. Set/thumb screws for the main boom arm and the telescope arm do not stay tight with finger tightening (which is necessary to adjust on the fly). I still like it for small venues as it is a little smaller profile so it doesn't stick out as far on the counter-weight end. Adjusts quickly, which is important as I switch between horn and vocals, but as mentioned doesn't stay tightened. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say it's not telescopic... telescopes with a finger-screw out the front end, as well as being able to slide on the neck. Gives me plenty of length up and over/around the music stand for my trombone work.

This telescoping boom, recently purchased is already not working. The top screw, which tightens the telescoping bit, doesn't. No matter how tight I make this screw, the end with the mic is loose and turns so the mike winds up not on top, but hanging from the bottom. I'm very displeased.

They were alittle on the heavy side (weight) but they work for me and the band. All the parts lock tight and the boomarms stay where you set them and don't drift. On Stage makes useable & dependable items. Thx

This device was mated with a stand. Upon receiving both items, the slop/wobble in assembling them together confirmed that this is not going to work. The MS7201B stand works great but it does not mate with this device. Using plumbers tape does not help this problem. Disappointed.
