After a year of ownership (I like the stand--especially that it can adjust to a low height good for seated guitarist), the knob that loosens the legs stripped off and you can no longer adjust the stand. I have the impression that the metal used on the screw and knob is just too soft for its purpose. I wrote to the company and hope they will make this right by sending a new knob.

The top hinge was too weak to hold up my music books and notebooks. Neither is overly heavy.
