5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with stand
It was a gift for my husband, who is a musician. He liked it very much. It is extremely study and it is hard to tip over, unlike his previous stand, which would fall over easily and dump his music all over. It is wide enough so that he can have several music books open at a time. He is enjoying it a lot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost wonderful
The stand is very sturdy and looks great, but the podium is held to the vertical stand with a plastic bracket. The bracket broke during assembly. I never even got to put a sheet of music on the damn thing.

I didn't want to go to the hassle of packing everything back up to mail for a return, so I made my own metal bracket. Now the stand is wonderful. It's too...

5.0 out of 5 stars best stand for the buck, December 19, 2008
By
Just bought this stand as a personal christmas present. If you want a sturdy attractive well built and designed stand for a reasonable price, look no further, you've found it.

The only complaint I have is not with the stand, but the way it was shipped. It was not shipped in a shipping box, but instead, was shipped in the flimsy product box. When it arrived the flimsy box was heavily damaged. However, due to the design and ruggededness of the stand, not even a scratch.

I am proud of my new stand and higly recommend it to others. Just beware of how it is shipped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Built to Last, March 7, 2008

I bought this a few weeks ago and am very impressed. Goes together easily, large capacity, good quality stand. All the adjustments, including those you can make to the "feet" make it easy to store out of the way. (Unlike those with a fixed, star-shaped base.) Due to weight, wouldn't be my first choice for a driving vacation in a small car, but excellent for home/stage use. Recommended!

I didn't want to go to the hassle of packing everything back up to mail for a return, so I made my own metal bracket. Now the stand is wonderful. It's too bad that they couldn't have made it more robust in the begining.

This music stand lasted less than a month. The locking mechanisms for the height and tilt adjustment are made of cheap plastic and they broke after just a few uses. Definitely the worst music stand I've ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars OnStage SM7211B Music Stand - EXCELLENT !!!, October 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At the time I am writing this review, there are already 12 5-star ratings on this music stand. I will add my 5 stars as well. This has to be the best music stand I have ever used. I have been playing for years. I have used every kind of stand from the cheap silver wire ones you can fold up and almost put in your pocket, up to the Manhasset stands that are almost solid metal. I have to say, this is the best of them all. The moment I opened the box and put the thing together, I could feel the quality. This is one solid stand. I love the way it is designed. You can raise or lower the feet depending on how much space you have at the bottom. This comes in handy when you are playing gigs where space is an issue. Also, I love the clamps that lock it in place, They feel sturdy and seem to hold well. Finally, when you spread the feet out on this thing, you cannot push it over with ease. It would take a major gust of wind to blow it over, yet, it is still rather light weight. All in all, I would highly recommend this stand to any serious musician in search of a solid, well designed and built music stand. I already own an OnStage boom stand and it is great, so I knew I would not go wrong buying their music stand. An excellent choice.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's only as good as the cheapest parts..., February 3, 2006
This review is from: On-Stage SM7211 Professional Folding Orchestral Music Stand, Black (Electronics)
This stand has a nice metal frame and music holder. It is adjustable in as many different ways as one could think a stand might ever need to be. However, the parts that hold it all together and allow it to be adjusted are made of plastic so they wear out. Quickly. Ours lasted perhaps four weeks.

For the price, you'd be reasonable in expecting something that will last years. I've seen stands priced both higher and lower, and I think any of those would be a better purchase than this one. If the whole thing is cheaply made and you pay a cheap price, or if the whole thing is very well made and you pay a quality price...either of those situations is better than what you will get with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY solid stand, January 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a fantastic music stand. It's very solid, not flimsy at all. Has a good weight to it without being to heavy. Holds a lot and is very durable. So durable that my husband decided to use it as a snow shovel during the last snow storm(without my prior knowledge or permission mind you - he got caught in the act). I probably could have beat him over the head and burried him with it - like a shovel (I didn't). In any case, the stand is unharmed (so is my husband) and in spite of that incident, still looks like new. I'm impressed. :)

My wife and I are professional musicians and we absolutely love this stand. It is extremely sturdy and durable. I don't know that I would call it a conductors stand, as conductors generally have much wider stands to hold full orchestral scores, but this is great for students. My wife teaches instrumental music so this is great when she has a student over. More than anything it is a solid stand and very easy to adjust up and down. For the price this is a great deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Stand, Any way you look at it, August 4, 2009
I've own this stand for 2 years now, and I cannot stop recommending it. once again, its very sturdy, it looks professional, and although weight and portability are somewhat compromised, the overall performance is outstanding. Mine has gone through several hardships, being lost and dusted away, and being mistreated, dropped, and the normal grit of everyday use, and is still in excellent condition. apart from holding music, this stand, when horizontally set. is sturdy enough to hold a laptop computer and, since its adjustable, i've often used it in presentations when standing up, or sitting down. I personally thing it is a must for anyone with serious, or otherwise, musical intentions
