Although I'm a multi-horn player, one of the bands I play in I primarily play flute. After finally purchasing this On-Stage flute stand, I have the peace of mind that my flute is on a stable, safe stand between sets. Well-constructed and solid, this stand is much less likely to be accidently knocked over.

This is a great little flute stand, and actually quite sturdy for something that looks like the bottom end of a toilet plunger. You do have to be careful with your flute as the metal material is harsh, but it's better than having to put your flute on the couch, on a desk, or on top of your case all the time.

This flute stand sits SOLID as a rock. There is no way a flute could topple on this. This is easily portable around the house and I can rest assured of it's stability. The BASE weighs 818g and is made of cast iron (with a robust screw housing in the middle) - in black (5-stars!) The PEG is lightweight plastic (74g) and is easily & securely screwed onto the base. Where it potentially drops one star (4-star) is - if not careful one could potentially scratch the inner tube of the flute's footjoint against the edge of the peg as one inserts the flute. The manufacturing method leaves a "stub" line running along the edges of the two halves heat-forged together which sometimes is not cleanly cut. This can be managed by gently shaving off the rough bits with a razor to minimize scratching. If the peg were wrapped in velvet, definitely 5 stars. Suggestion: What I have done is replace the incumbent peg with a velvet-wrapped Hercules DS502B Flute/Clarinetinet PEG - for my new flute. The incumbent plastic peg is mounted onto a home-made wooden base for my old student flute or resin tenor recorder. So now I have two stands. |
