Martin Clunes plays a downtrodden London toy salesman, Neil, who has lived his whole life in the shadow of his best friend, Gary. Neil is engaged to the attractive, but rather sour Hilary, who is one of Gary's "cast-offs". Hilary is marrying out of desperation to be married and has defied her domineering and snobbish mother to marry Neil.

During Neil's drunken stag night, Gary engineers the ultimate prank. Neil is drugged, then helicoptered to a remote, desolate Scottish island and left naked and penniless. Neil has three days to get back to London without Hilary's family finding out what happened.
