Book Description

Top 100 Amazon series.

Thorn works after dark. That’s when she combines her gifts as a tattoo artist and her powers as a natural born witch to weave magick into her ink. Her tattoo parlor, Stained, on Berkeley’s quirky Telegraph Avenue draws clients from all walks of life. Her work is in high demand from the supernatural community and the undead.

With her raven familiar, Thorn’s been on the run all her adult life. She won’t talk
about why. Only she knows of the horrors in her past. She only wants to practice her art of tattooing in peace. But when a murderer targets her clients, Sé, a tall, dark and Irish detective is assigned to investigate. They must trust each other to survive the cat and mouse game that ensues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stained April 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Thorn is a tattoo artist that just happens to be a witch. She is the only tattoo artist that can tattoo vampires, because of her healing magick. When her supernatural customers start to turn up dead, Thorn becomes the #1 suspect. She is the last person to see them alive. Se, a detective investigating the murders, has an instant attraction to Thorn and trys to help clear her of the murders. Thorn will not only need her own magick but the magick of her dead grandmother and the help of her loved ones. This book has a good story and has great flow. The book pulls you in and you want to keep reading. Thorn is a strong female that has been on her own for a long time. Se, is a strong male character that has gentlemen qualities which you don't see too much in male characters, he's just a genuine good guy. There are secrets with all the characters which makes the story even better. Everyone has their own agenda.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting and fun to read April 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really liked this book. I will agree with Mighty Jesse that the characters are too good to be true, but that is the only thing I can find wrong with this story. It is fun to read, has plenty of paranormal, magic, etc. and some romance as well. Way to go Jessica McBrayer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your average paranormal story - love it! July 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Stained is a great read. It took me a little while to warm to the story through the first few chapters but before I realized it had even happened, I was all wrapped up and ended up reading it through the night! It has all of my favorite things - a strong woman, a sexy man, tattoos, Irish name it! This is definitely a different book than her other series, but I dig it. Plus, Sé is so dreamy, Uncle Charles is adorable and I want my own Raven. Haha. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with Caleb!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great progression July 7, 2013

This book doesn't move too fast. The images are so vivid that you don't want to put the book down. The heroes are flawed, which for me makes them more enjoyable. When you start talking to the characters as you read, you know you've found a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can we say "BEST SELLER" ? October 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
STAINED captured my attention from the first paragraph and kept me hanging on for more through to the end - I never wanted to put the book down. Such a great mix of murder, mystery, magic, and romance - and I could vividly picture everything that happened in my head. I can't wait to read the next book by Jessica McBrayer!

Okay, so "STAINED" was not my chosen genre of "Books I Like to Read," but after given this book, of course I read it. To my amazement, I actually REALLY LIKED it! Always a sucker for a mystery (despite my aversion to witchery and especially vampire lore), I found myself completely immersed in the story 'til I finished it...all within a day! Jessica McBrayer is a great storyteller, and the characters came to life with a realism I didn't expect. Protection spells, evil murders, vampires, and a love story all worked! I can't wait til the next one in this trilogy. Whatever you think about fantasy, take a break and give it a try with this's truly a fun read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great surpise August 26, 2013
By Daniel
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book after my wife had finished. I was surprised how quickly I was engaged in the book. The characters were well developed. I enjoyed the fact that the characters Thorn and Se had a awkward relationship at the beginning of the book and everything did not fall together perfectly. It came across as a realistic relationship. I look forward to following the next story and hopefully the storyline will give some more information on the Japan back story and I can't wait to have the storyline in Ireland.
