More About the Author

I am from Haverhill, MA where I grew up, went to school and met my wife. Linda, and I now live in Glastonbury, Ct. close to where three of our four children live. I have a masters degree from Northeastern University, Boston, MA and an undergraduate degree from Merrimack College, No Andover, MA. I enjoy golf, chess, computers and reading.
Recently, I completed and published my second book, Stained River. My first, Cold Water Crossing, was published in January of 2009. It is factually based on a true New England double murder that occurred in 1873. In May, 2009, I began work on Stained River, a novel of intrigue and adventure, set in the remote Amazon. It is fast paced and woven around topics found in today's news stories.

The contrast between the world of a Wall Street executive and the leader of an Amazon Jungle tribe couldn't be more different, but that is what makes this book so exciting. The way Connery and Teman-e work together to avert an environmental disaster is endearing and the author's well thought out plot to take down Castelo Branco comes together like a well-oiled machine. I didn't want the book to end and would love to read a sequel focusing on Connery's former life on Wall Street and his relationship with his wife before their divorce. This book is fast paced can be easily read in a weekend. Very pleased with my purchase.

Wonderful book! If you like mystery, intrigue, murder and friendship then this book is for you. I was taken away by the friendship of the 2 main characters. Two people from two very different parts of the world work together and earning the respect of one another. One of the best books I have read. Fast moving and kept me completely engrossed. Kept me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book.

I read a lot of books, usually about 100 per year. I have read over 50 this year so far and Stained River is one of the best. I did not want this book to end. Besides it being an adventure thriller it was also gave me an education about the natives of the Amazon. Wonderful characters and an amazing story. Do not miss this one.

You know right off the bat in this book that something very interesting is about to happen to the main character. The author, David Faxon, does a very good job of setting up his story and getting the reader involved in the plot.

The plot is quick and the writing itself is very good. The only thing I took issue with in this novel, was the decision to make every character have some kind of problem that stopped them from being very likable. While I certainly understand that a good character needs to be flawed, for me, it seemed at times that these characters were almost too flawed, and I couldn't choose on to identify with.

Otherwise, this is fabulously written. The story, in and of itself, is intelligent. Although this is fiction, there is some truth in it and it brings to light some very important issues that the reader can't help but contemplate during the time they spend with this novel.

There are parts of this book that I found I could completely lose myself in. The descriptions used to describe the rainforest and the animals are incredibly beautiful and paint a mental picture not to be rivaled. I liked the suspenseful nature of this story, where you are never certain what will happen next and there is danger around every turn.

I would recommend this book to others that enjoy a thrilling and at the same time thought-provoking read.

I'm an author who appreciates stories that leave the reader with something of value. Stained River did not disappoint. Even if it had been simply a "plane crash survivor makes his way out of the jungle" story, it would have been a great adventure. The addition of Teman-e and the primitive Machi-te, threatened by corporate greed and the evils of the modern world, make it a story with a message worth remembering. The character development of Connery is good as we see him change from one who would exploit into one who would protect a people who still know the world in a way that modern man has long since forgotten. I was particularly interested in this story as I'm putting the final touches on one jungle adventure ( set in Borneo ) and in the beginning stages of the next, set in Venezuela's Amazonas backcountry. - Ken Wallin, author of Passport to Adventure and the upcoming Falling to Eden.

OK, this guy is two for two as far as I'm concerned. This is the second book of his that I've read and he never seems to miss a beat. Of all the books I've read this past year, this one has to be my favorite. I took it along for a long weekend thinking I would read some here and there, but I wasn't able to put it down and spent most of the weekend reading it (my apologies to the wife and kids). Well played Mr. Faxon, keep up the great work. I Look forward to your next book.

This book was so different it is hard to describe. H is successful, but crappy human being.. Suddenly put in a jungle with primitive people he learned to admire and fear...turned his life around and returned to fix stuff he had allowed to happen... So much happened to him...rather hard to imagine, but all possible. I loved the book and will want to read it again sometime when I'm bored with normal life

I loved this book!! I got it as a freebie at kindlebuffet.com and thought I'd give it a try. I am so happy that I did! I will look forward to reading another one of his books. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. It's obvious that he did a lot of research on the Amazon and its indigenous tribes. Really fascinating.....
