4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for containing hops while brewing beer!
I recently purchased two of these to contain hops while brewing beer (during the boil). They have a durable locking design and the 5" size will hold up to ~6 oz of wet (expanded) pellet hops. Significantly more durable and free-flowing than nylon bags.

My only complaint is the short-ish chain. A six inch longer chain would make this product worthy of a 5 star...

1.0 out of 5 stars Mesh Tea ball fell apart on the third useage.
I purchased this stainless steel tea ball to use in my brine for pickling. They have to be stainless steel - apparently this one was not, as after the third time I used it it fell apart in my hands while getting it open to dump the spices. The sides totally came apart. I do not recommend this to anyone using spices and vinegar in a brine.

I was disappointed because the "mesh" was so corse that the loose leaf tea passed thru and I had to restrain before drinking. Purchased a smaller one from another vendor.

I make lots of green tea from loose leaves bought from an oriental market. This ball makes a very messy brewing experience simple and easy to clean up. Fine sedimentation is greatly minimized and the whole process is improved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing rice Cooker, December 6, 2011

Placed rice into mesh ball, immersed in boiling water for 20 minutes then hung the ball by its chain above the pot on the exhaust hood over the stove. The water from the cooked rice drained into the pot without a mess as it cooled slightly.

Cleaned the ball by 'swishing' in the pot of water and hung it up to dry.

Rice tasted great. No mess. only had to clean the bowl and spoon.

Ordered the thing using "one-click" so had it delivered in a couple of days. Just had to click. No forms to fill out.

This mesh ball may be one of the easiest, most enjoyable surprises I've had lately. (I know, need to get out more!)

Exactly what it says it is. Manufactured in Taiwan, all Taiwanese script on the label. I'm using it for Homebrewing. Would get 5 stars, if it just had a longer chain.

I bought this item to contain pellet hops during the boil. The mesh was too far apart/wide/coarse to contain the pellet remenants after the boil. It did retain about 50% but was hoping for better. This item is perfect for leaf hops.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for brewing tea!, December 2, 2010
This review is from: Stainless Steel Locking Spice Mesh Ball, Tea Strainer, Tea Infuser, Giant Size 4 Inch Diameter
It's great for brewing a whole pitcher (the one I use is 1 gallon) of loose leaf tea at a time with plenty of room for the leaves to expand. I've used this 2-3 times a week for months without any problems.
