Oh my gosh! I just purchased this iron a couple of days ago, so I can't attest to long-term warranty issues. My dog tripped on the extension cord and broke my Rowenta DZ1900, which was nicer than my previous iron. That's all it was ... nicer. Still I decided to try a Rowenta again. This iron is amazing. I've been ironing flax and cotton today. I'm finished in one or two swipes of the iron. All the deep-set-in wrinkles just fall out. I love this iron! Now I can spend time doing something else ... like picking up my stuff all over the house.

So far, I really like this iron! It's everything it says it is and more! It heats up quickly, delivers a consistent smooth result, and is it my imagination, or does it seem to cut down on the time I'm spending ironing?! My old iron would spew rusty water and mineral deposits, staining and/or ruining my clothes! This Rowenta features a filter to avoid having this happen. Hopefully, it will perform accordingly! The only thing I miss is the retractable cord, but I'll deal with it.

I purchased the DW 9050 1600W based on the positive Rowenta reputation, operating features, and European build. Looked great right out of the box, but did leak water from the first run which I chalked up to my inexperience. I eventually found a low water level in the somewhat hard to view tank worked ok for the light use I gave it but not ideal. Then in the 13th month of use, the auto off red light came on and no matter what would not turn off = dead iron. The problem was a failed circuit board that controls the iron with a replacement power cord at ~$25 which is not readily available. I had thought of buying a replacement Rowenta as maybe I had a lemon, but after rereading through the negative posts here and at Fixya.com, realized Rowenta of the past is not the Rowenta of today. My conclusion, like other reviewers is that at least for this model, take a pass on a very poor quality unit unless you consider it an expensive disposable small appliance when it fails post warranty. Warranty service, BTW, leaves a lot to be desired as it's not inexpensive on any shipping charges and the local Authorized Service center repair charges would have been ~50% of the cost of the original or a replacement. My temporary solution is a $5 Craigslist 1960's GE steam iron that is definitely a more reliable iron, (which doesn't leak!), while I search out a currently manufactured steam iron made to last more than a year.

This is my third Rowenta, and I love the irons EXCEPT that they don't last long. If you're willing to replace at least once a year, go for it.

After using this iron for about 10 minutes, it started leaking water and never quit. The iron is very heavy and hard to manuver. Because the surface of the iron is so large, it's very difficult to iron small items or manuver in small areas. Also, it's very difficult to view the level of the water through the dark blue resevoir. My old Rowenta is much better than this new model. M. Weddell Bakersfield, CA

I really like this iron and have been using Rowenta products for many years because of their high build quality. One thing that I like the most about it is its weight -- it's a little heavier (not too much) than my last iron and, as a result, it presses clothes much better and more quickly.
The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because I wish that it had a removable bladder for water (like my prior model did) that I could take off and fill up without taking the entire iron to the sink. This is especially useful when you run out of water for steam in the middle of ironing. That being said, it's not a big deal to fill up the accessory cup with water and add it to the iron as necessary.
I would strongly recommend this iron to anyone in the market.

I should have listened to the people who had trouble because of the high wattage tripping the circuit breaker in my house. I didn't listen because I have a relatively new house and didn't think it would happen to me but it has been a problem from the first time I used it. Love the iron but you shouldn't have to reset the breaker every time you use it. Buyer Beware.

I love this iron!!! The heat is perfect for each setting, it steams just right--not blobs of water left on the fabric. The soleplate is easy to maneuver around seams and small areas, and the handle fits my hand well. I have arthritis in my hands and it is not painful for me to iron with this design.
