The ISMI recoil spring is manufactured of certified materials, heat treated for longer life, shot peened for stress relief and finally calibrated to Glock factory specifications (17lbs). The Spring includes a full 1 year replacement warranty that extends beyond just materials and workmanship. We even cover failure due to wear. These combined features make the Guide Rod Assembly the most durable, longest lasting system available today. Fits G17,17L,22,24,31,34,35,37 GEN 1,2,3 Pistols. Experienced shooters realize plastic guide rods can chip, crack or break resulting in feeding or ejection failures and guide rod flex can contribute to accuracy problems. The Guide Rod Assembly addresses all of these issues and will provide you a life time of reliable service.

Before I bought and used the "Stainless Steel Guide Rod" for my Glock 17, I was shooting at a target down to the left.
After I bought and used the "Stainless Steel Guide Rod" I started to shoot where I was aiming.

I would recommend getting the "Stainless Steel Guide Rod" for your Glock.
It is the best modification for your Glock.

I own 9 .40 cal, Gen 3 Glocks and have this rod in everyone and have many friends that run it as well. It fits just as the factory one does with no issues. I do not know what some of the people here are doing that complain about fitment.

Although i have NEVER seen a factory rod break, I just feel more comfortable with the steel one. Did it lesson recoil? Not a bit. Did it lesson the .40 cal flip? Not a bit.

If you are going to heavily rely on your weapon, shoot it a lot as I do, it's worth the $30 or less for piece of mind...

The idea of a steel guide rod is rather appealing, however, this guide rod does not easily sit in the detent at the front of your slide. It requires some finagling to seat it right. You are better off with the factory guide rod as it slips in and out with ease, making disassembly and reassembly quick and easy. Not the case with the aftermarket rod. FYI I put 500 rounds through my glock 22 with the aftermarket rod to see if it may have worn in and fit better. It does not.

I am very happy with this over the OEM plastic. Howevere the lbs on the pull may be to much for a suppressed weapon and did casue some failures to feed. I have not tested this with out the suppressor yet but I am sure it will be good to go as I have one of these on a glock 23 is it has over 2500 rounds through it without an issue.

A stainless steel rod as a replacement for the plastic fiber rod normally given in a glock gives me more confidence while shooting heavier +P loads and buffalo bore loads

Glock 17 solid steel guide rod upgrade 3rd gen. This is a must have upgrade in my opinion. Fits perfectly! One thing I did notice is, the guide screw will catch the slide if the slide is racked slow causing the screw head to not sink back into the hole. I fixed mine by lightly sanding the edges. I'm very happy with this product!

Purchased for Glock 17C, dropped right into place. Spring tension set to Glock factory specification of 17 pounds. I note the spring appears to be coated / anodized - black that is - where the stock assembly that came with my Glock had the look and feel of aluminium, though it is not. Nice that this assembly comes with two allen wrenches for use in removing the rod endcaps for later spring (lighter / stronger resistance) replacements.

The debate ranges about the need to replace the stock guide rod assembly or not - in the end it is your choice and how you feel about the possibility of debris slowly shaving away at plastic, or plastic shock compression from muzzle pressure wave. A steady 2 seconds per round at a firing range is a little less stressful than a run and gun competition or sustained rapid fire. Some things to ponder.

I read a few comments on the "added weight" and how it can either help in reducing a bit of the muzzle snap, or how it makes it difficult to come back on target. As the 17C has the two compensation ports (not the same as being ported) muzzle snap has not been a concern of mine. As to the "weight" here is what I have measured:
Stock Glock 17C Guide Rod Assembly: 16 grams / 0.564383 oz.
Stainless Steel Guide Rod Assembly: 26 grams / 0.917123 oz.
or a 10 gram / 0.35274 oz. increase in weight overall, weight distribution across length of barrel, not directly at the muzzle tip.

Glock makes one that probably works. The bolt on this one catches the front of my slide so it stays back about an eigth of an inch.Wish I would have returned mine.
