I bought this for my wife. She now cuts vegetables fearlessly with both a knife and a mandoline. She was afraid of the mandoline for years. It cleans easily in the dishwasher. Pricey, but so far we have saved a lot of money on bandages. I got a small for her, but it works fine for my medium hand.

My rating is based not only on the glove itself, but the customer service of Wells Lamont (WL). I know some people will argue that it should be based solely on the glove, but I disagree, and I’m writing this review so others can see how incredibly incompetent their service is.

When I got the glove, I tried it on only to find the fit, as another reviewer mentioned, was a bit unusual. It fit ok (but still far from great) on my left hand, but I intended to wear it on my right hand, and the fit on that hand was terrible. Upon close inspection of the glove, I noticed there were sections where the link attachments differed from the rest of the glove, in a way that was apparent as visible lines in the glove. This causes it to kink up a bit and contributes to the poor ambidexterity, though even without these defects I seriously doubt it would be more than a barely acceptable fit.

The instructions state there is absolutely no warranty, and any defects present upon purchase have to be reported to WL within 5 days. I went online and found their contact email and sent them a message describing the problem. About 5 days passed without a response, so I tried again, and again, no response. And I am 100% sure it did not go to spam. So I contacted the seller, since WL didn’t seem to care about their customers. The seller authorized the return, but I have to pay return shipping, which I’d rather not do, especially since I was hoping WL would take care of things if I could actually get a response out of them, considering the fact they very clearly say to contact them with any defects.

It took several days for me to be able to reach them by phone, since they close at 5 and I am rarely out of work by then. I finally got a chance today, and it was an infuriating experience.

My husband bought my this glove after I cut myself badly last year. It is a wonderful tool for keeping yourself safe in the kitchen.

Not only does the glove protect your hands from sharp knives, but it also makes it easier to hold onto slippery food, especially produce like bell peppers and zucchini. It's fairly heavy, but still comfortable. It has saved me from several serious cuts. I also like that it can fit on either the right or the left hand.

Every kitchen should have this glove!

This is well worth the price. I would not have thought to order such an expensive item if I had not cut off part of my little finger while using a mandoline slicer. I use this for that tool on my right hand, and put it on the left hand when I use a knife. I'm very glad I made the investment. Regarding size--I ordered the small. I am a woman who wears a size 7 ring on my left right finger. I would not have wanted it any bigger.

I had ordered a couple of the other kevlar or other 'cut resistant' gloves and wasn't satisifed with them. While they offer some protection, they seem like regular gloves and might stop an errant slice but did not stop pokes or jabbing with an oyster knife when it slips, etc. So I took the plunge and got this, and am sorry I didn't just get it to begin with. Other cut resistant gloves are not cut proof-and I found that one of the ones I'd bought had the protection in the main finger and hand areas (a single strand of stainless interwoven) but when I took a pair of scissors and tested the end of the finger, it snipped right off-like it would with my finger inside. So this is the glove you want.

However, I did see one review with a woman and a small hand saying it ran large. But figured since even xxl gloves are often tight on me I'd be fine with that and ordered the xxl. It is significantly larger than expected, but useable. I am a big guy 6'5 430 lbs. So my hands truly are XXL. The length of the fingers is good, but the girth of the wrist and fingers is about 50% larger than I would need-so it hangs loosely there. I am probably going to order an xl but am thinking if I maybe even should jsut order an L. So keep this in mind when ordering-awesome last forever quality that will totally protect you and offers a grip like velcro on slippery fish and clams/oysters. You may want to order a size down your normal size, unless they change the sizing. But it is a great product and you should get it-it offers much greater full protection than the kevlar or stainless steel strand interwoven into glove ones. Those i just did not feel safe. I can slice to my hearts content with my mandoline and filet knife-and be safe finally.

The glove does not have a fabric strap, which is a good thing. Fabric straps can hold bacteria and mold, and are harder to sanitize.
The self tensioning band at the bottom of the glove works well enough. From the other reviews, I was a little concerned with the sizing, but after I received it, my concerns were put to rest. If you wear a size 9-10 glove, then this is sized true. These types of gloves are designed to be worn on top of another glove, like a cotton or thick vinyl. Usually you are dealing with chilled meat and need some type of insulating glove underneath. IMHO, that is why the other reviewers said they run big. The price is great, I looked this same glove up in the huge Grainger catalog where I work and it listed for $213.00. It does have some negatives. I am left handed, and even though this glove is supposed to be ambidextrous, it seems to fit my left hand more comfortably than my right. I usually cut with my left. It feels more bunchy in the palm area and tighter across the back when it is on my right hand. Not a deal breaker, just some info for the other "lefties" out there. The little medallion shown in the picture is attached with rings to the glove, and will be inconvenient for people wearing the glove on the right hand. Small diagonal wire cutters will take care of that. Overall this is a quality glove that will save you from trips to the ER with deep lacerations, although you may still get some puncture wounds from knives with very narrow points. I would recommend this glove for anyone that uses sharp blades or handles anything with sharp edges.
